Not much of a story from my commute today, at most despite the forecast both were dry.

Grr, witnessed a bull terrier thing attack a spaniel this morning in Reddish Vale. Owner was a drug dealer type no where near the dog. Fortunately he got the dog off before a heavy MTB with spikey chainrings was launched at the dog's body.

Well, I took on Harrogate. Consensus is that Harrogate won.
A cycling nightmare.
Littered with alleged cycle paths, routes and what have you.
Paths that peter out and leave you searching for the next blue sign post.
Who believes that painting a line on an already busy road creates a cycle path?
Loose dogs on shared paths!
Zombies with headphones on, walkers catching up on their text messages and only vaguely paying any attention.
Gaggles of teen students.

Much like the rest of the country really.

There rant over

This is not helping me look forard to my trip to the UK, you know.

Work on the basis that pedestrian who is walking straight along the shared path will at the last moment walk diagonally and you should be okay. Not normally applicable in York where the sheer volume of cycle movements mean pedestrians are better trained.

Save the bother and just cycle straight over the Stray that will teach them.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Nearly got wiped out last night , approaching traffic lights on red so i braked and nothing happened !front brake suddenly stopped working so i rolled into the junction as the back brake as we know is not as strong as the front.managed to swerve and stop then tried to look but at 12.30 am its hard to see much by shining a bike like at a disc brake, cable moved but way to much without doing anything so i had to gingerly ride home then i will have a fettle today to work out what's up .

EDIT
that would explain it , one pad literally fell off and the other one got trashed too

I've managed to commute all week - something I have not done for a long, long while and, despite the crappy weather all week and today's yellow weather warnings of wind and rain.

May as well get in as many commute miles as I can, while I still have a job to commute to.

Had to use the geared MTB though. The single-speed is getting too much for me now.
