The GLW and I stopped using sugar a while back. If necessary, I'll put half a spoon of thick honey in an 'Americano Grande'.
Minor problem last week when I offered my window cleaner a cuppa and he asked for two sugars.
Luckily found a couple of sugar sachets in a dark place somewhere.

Don't you ever cook cakes or other deserts? Or bread?

We neither of us ever use sugar in drinks, but we always have sugar in the house for cooking.

Oh my God, the choice of sugars in our cupboard for cooking:

Standard granulated
Caster
Golden caster
Icing sugar
Royal icing sugar
Demerara
Muscovado
Light brown soft
Dark brown soft
Molasses
Usually there's a palm sugar too, we're out of that at the mo.
Got some stevia leaf sugar-substitute; never used it. .

When I was a wee lad and sugar was usually provided in lumps at cafes etc., my older brother would take great delight in amusing me by carefully sliding sugar lumps into a cup of tea so they piled up one on top of t'other. We would then watch as the lower lumps gradually dissolved and the upper lumps then dissolved and also slid into the tea. ^_^
Inventive turn of mind my bro'. Sadly he died thirty years ago at 54. Still miss him.

I haven't had sugar in a brew for years. Ok, I might put some in one every now and then if I'm having a queesy do. It's the same with salt. I only use salt for rice and that's only a pinch of the stuff. Obviously I can't avoid sugar and salt if I eat something processed, but I rarely have processed food these days. I had a bag of ready salted crisps the other day. Heck, they were full of salt! xx( 👎

Just remembered that I have a bag of brown sugar in a kitchen cupboard that's been there for must be four or so years. I bought it for a friend who calls round every blue moon. I keep it sealed by masking tape to keep it dry, though the cupboard it's in is very warm and dry, so it should be ok. This friend is quite weird as when in her house I've seen her sugar container, which has a combination of white, light brown and that thick dark demerara sugar, all mixed together. 🤔

I don't have any sugar in my coffee but typically have a couple of shortbread biscuits. And whilst not quite understanding the nutritional information, I am thing those two biscuits represent 2.5 tea spoons of refined sugar?

my tea is drunk as god himself intended it to be drunk, black with no sugar or biscuits. I suspect this rule is in the bible

Although I don't take sugar in tea or coffee these days, I must say that in my cycling days, after a tiring ride on wet/cold days, a pint of strong tea with about 4 sugars and milk was a nice pleasure when I got home. I'd soak the teabags in a little bit of boiling water before going for my ride, then top the pint mug up with boiling water when I got back, meaning the teabags had time to let out all their flavour in the hours I was out on my bike.

I have brown sugar for when I bake bread .......if I have it right it needs sugar to activate the yeast.

A few years ago, myself and a colleague, had to travel to Sweden with work. My wife, being a chef, made a Swedish Almond cake to take to enjoy with our Swedish hosts.

We flew into Copenhagen airport, and then got picked up and travelled across the amazing Oresund Bridge into Sweden.

Once we reached our final destination, we were left for a few minutes in a meeting room, and so I reached out the almond cake, along with the carefully packed icing sugar my wife had placed in my luggage in a blue plastic sandwich bag, with strict instructions to sprinkle on top of the cake when served.

My colleague looked aghast, as I pulled out the plastic bag with the ultrafine white powder therein.

"You took that in your hand luggage through Gatwick and Copenhagen airports!"

No, honest officer, it's icing sugar to sprinkle on the homemade Swedish almond cake, just dip your finger in and have a taste! 🫣

If i'm feeling hungover i can crave a sweet drink, but i usually go for half a teaspoon!

And i like a strong tea but Holy Trump, multiple teabags steeping for hours? Aren't you offended by stains on your Royal Worcester?

I just filled the mug, like I do with mugs and cups now with diluted bleach and water for an hour or so, which makes tea and coffee stains disappear. You can also use a wire scourer and washing up liquid if you don't like using bleach.
