I often do long runs, up to 22 miles or so, without fuelling. I’ll have dinner the previous evening and, in the morning, get up and head straight out without breakfast. Didn’t take any food/gels/fluid with me either.

Apologies - as such.I read your recent posts, liked them - but didn’t respond directly. But yes - I more than group you under the same umbrella of unnatural endurance and dedication 🤣🤣 Very-very impressive.

It probably sounds bizarre to some but I have been known to forget to eat, especially if I am busy. Longest was from Friday evening to Monday morning. I guess my body is used to working that way and it makes a notable difference come race day when I do fuel.

After having covid last August I'm finally in the clear.

At Christmas I was still struggling to run 3 miles and had a lung test at the beginning of April, the results came back this week as higher than average for my height/age so it's time to crack on.

Oh yeah, and I managed my fastest 5k on Wednesday in my club's handicap race, still over a minute slower than last year though.

That's got to be the best username.

I only started as I didn't have time for cycling and running was a way to keep fit, luckily I found a really good local club, Mrs @Regular.Cyclist was one of those helping out on my beginner's course, and we have a good social side as well as runners of all abilities, there's people who win/place highly in their age category, and others who average 11/12:00 minute miles, so there's always someone to run with.

Don't know if they have always done it, certainly new to me, but an email from Parkrun today asking for monthly donations!

I’ve heard of a few people getting those emails over the past month or so. I had initially assumed a data breach and therefore a scam but apparently it is genuine. It seems a lot of people who donated previously hav jumped on the Bring Back The Stats bandwagon and stopped donating in protest about them being removed in the first place.

First ultra today, a hilly 50k on mixed terrain. Came in just 2 minutes outside of my target time and well inside the finish 25% of finishers. Chuffed with that.

Got contacted today by one of the main sports watch manufacturers telling me that I’ve been lucky enough to get assigned a personal coach for my next marathon in October. Training plan came through a little while ago. Looks good. Fingers crossed I get the PB I’m after.

Wow; that’s pretty cool 😎 This was something you signed up for I presume ? Hope all your plans come together for you…..

Felt a sharp twang in my calf as I started the strides in this morning's run
Had had a 3-mile gentle warm-up, so it wasn't completely cold. Had some heat rub and a tubi-grip on it today - doesn't feel life-threatening, but I'll be resting up, then back on the bike until it feels better...
Feeling much better now and been out for a couple of jogs since with no ill-effects.

I've gone and bought myself and Mrs Legs some new shoes - Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 for me (replacing my Brooks Ravenna which I dislike, trying to get something like my old Brooks Vapors), and Brooks Launch GTS 9 for her (replacing her Ravennas).

I'm also going to spoil myself for my upcoming 43rd birthday with a pair of racing shoes! I'd had it in mind to try getting something super-carbon-plated, but I went into Derby Runner yesterday and came out having fallen in love with Brooks (again!) Hyperion GTS 2, which are phenomenally light and felt like running around with springs on my feet. Because I'm a bad person, I checked out the prices online, but I'm happy that I'll go back into the shop and buy them there next time I'm in Derby. I'm going to do some concerted threshold/VO2 speedwork and see how close to a sub-17 parkrun I can get...

My current pair are Adrenaline 22s. I've been wearing mostly the same model for years now as they seem to suit my gait (I was fitted for a pair originally and have stuck with them without any problems).
