On reflection I went off too fast at Manchester Marathon and it caught up with me around 16 mile. Still finished just outside my PB. Lesson learned though for Yorkshire Marathon later this year.

Enthused by taking part in our inaugural local marathon, myself and two close friends and fellow club runners were a few miles in and making our way up a very long gradual hill when I pointed out that we might be being a tad ambitious as we could still see the leaders. We eased off to a more realistic pace and then a few miles further on the route entered a long descent towards the bottom of which was my house. I knew that the family and neighbours would be out to cheer me on and I mentioned this to the small group we were running with and bless them, they spontaneously eased off the pace so I could go through the area at the head of the pack 😀

My elder son (10) has been tasked by his Scout troop to raise money for the Kohima Educational Trust, a charity in northeastern India.

Andrew has chosen to challenge himself to run at least a mile every day in June, and build up to running a 5km parkrun at the end of the month. As much as a physical challenge, it’ll be a feat of motivation and organisation to make sure that he gets the required run done every day!

He designed a poster last weekend, and his school have really got behind him - there's a whole-school 'Run With Andrew' organised for 14 June ^_^

If you're willing to spare a few quid to bolster his funds, here's a link to the GoFundMe page he's set up:

I’ve committed to doing a George Fisher Tea Round in May with some guys from my running club. Eek! 😬

So it's happening this coming weekend and I'm woefully underprepared... my longest run has been just over 10 miles and I've had a stinking cold for the past week. The one consolation is that we're going to be running really slowly - not much more than brisk fell-walking with jogging on the flattish bits.

It's going to be about 7 hours, I think - I've got plenty of experience of walking and cycling for that kind of duration, but not fell-running. There are seven of us doing it, so there should be plenty of support. Weather forecast is looking cool and potentially showery...

Hope all goes well and the weather is favourable.

I still have a dodgy knee. Doing the various exercises the physio recommended. Running in a straight line is ok, it's lifting the leg to get going again when I have paused to cross the road etc. Anyway, onwards and upwards, a couple of weeks ago I ran 7.5k to celebrate my 75th birthday, and on the 3rd I managed 8.8k, a tenth of the Comrades distance. It's these little psychological games that get me out the door👍

I'm not a runner as in don't enjoy it particularly but have on the recommendation of a cycling buddy, I started doing a few parkruns. After my 9th, did a local 10k race there 2 weeks ago with 500 others and enjoyed it and came somewhere in the middle. That was the furthest I've ever run in my life. I've registered for another 10k in August so at least I've a time to try and beat now.
