I was around 10.5 stone so 68 kilos until my mid 30’s. 70-72 kilos Is not unreasonable given I have lost some upper body muscle mas with age and concentration on cycling. Any less than that though would mean giving up too much of what I enjoy in life and , other than for a Marmotte or similar is simply not worth it.
Best to work on power and technique.
I'd love to be 11 st again (70kg) but realistically 75 is a target I think I should be able to achieve. Like you though, I'm concentrating on power and technique and hope that the volume of riding i do will lead to gradual weight loss too.

With HID being so poorly i rarely drink these days, even more rarely go out with mates for curries, but do still succumb to too many cakes! Riding is my outlet from my carer responsibilities so I have to do it to enjoy it and not as a chore.

Signed up for the GCN race tomorrow at 7 PM (UK). Anyone joining in?

It's 3 laps of the Greater London flat course and total around 35 km / 135 hm.
Possibly too late for me. It's my type of ride though so if I can manage to get free I'll try and join you.

Great, have an early dinner with the HID and join us/me. You have disapperead from my Victims list on ZP, and tomorrow you could stand a fair chance of putting me on YOUR victims list. :boxing: I have joined the Bs, but expect to be joined by a lot of Cs within the first 5-10 minuttes.

i can see an advantage to reduced difficulty. That it smooths the effort, making it more ERG or TT effort . For those riders who prefer a constant effort and I would put myself in that category
I see it as akin to being able to change gear smoothly (and also have a very wide gear selection available ). I can then hold a more constant power and cadence, as you say. In races I set the realism to about 30-40%, but obviously with workouts it's all down to ERG which I have no problems with on Zwift.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion, I'm not going to be a sub 200lb rider. Well not for any significant period of time. I'm stable around 205lb, to be constantly trying to attain a few extra pounds of weight loss, is detrimental to just enjoying riding/racing.
There is no chance of me becoming too obsessed with weight. But I have about 30 lbs of excess fat to shed. Plus as age has caught up with me I've started having back problems (lumbar stenosis). The prescription is lose weight and build the core.

With regards the trainer difficulty I've got it set at about 80% i find that works quite well for me i can feel the difference in gradients quite a bit so still get a go workout anything less and it would seem a little strange.

Andy, wheels. I have been wasting too much time pootling around the net and Ebay trying to find the best reviewed deal on a 50/50mm set of wheels. As much as i like the Yoelo's and the good reviews a 1500g set comes in at near £900 before tax. Ican and far sports are cheaper but not so well reviewed. I keep coming back to Zuus. £500 is as cheap as it gets with the warranty, crash replacement policy etc. Where buyers have had issues these seem to have been quick to resolve. I could even get the 38's and save 100g's and have a more all purpose wheelset. Cosmetically the rims have a brake track but, all other things being equal, i am not sure spending another £300 to have a smooth rim is worth it.. That said you liked your Yoelo's and i think you set them up tubeless without tape. Are you buying the same again to replace your busted wheel. Do you reckon another carbon wheel would have suffered the same fate?
Anyone else with experience of far eastern Carbon wheels please feel free to chime in.
Buying the wheels will stop me spending £2k plus on a new bike
