Got an email from Bkool saying that the smart air trainer is ready for pre-order.
I can pay a deposit for €100 and when I pay another €1099 I can have it 3 weeks later
Are they serious.

January sale it will be €150 .

Bkool cannot make a 'proper' power metered trainer. This is because it will be severely disadvantaged against their Bkool Pro units. Until they re program the Pro units and sort out their sim to equal non Bkool units, they are stuck between rock and hard place.

I think they are ... How are they measuring power using IR technology?? I can only assume that they are not, and they are actually measuring speed, and using teh weight of the rider to calculate power ... Again ... Have they learned nothing ... At that price, I'll stay with either the Neo, KickR, Hammer etc

It has a 27-point calibration system and measures power using an infrared sensor that measures the temperature inside the trainer. It’s claimed to be accurate with a margin of error of 2%, more or less the same as other top-end trainers.

Sounds good but nobody’s had one to test yet and it’s at least a year behind I believe.

Have you the link to test data. I suspect the difference between the worst and best aero wheels of the same depth is only a few percent. Its the depth of rim which allows the air to smooth out and flow over the rim to reduce turbulence.

I cannot get into the thread at the moment but will post later.

I will do a test ride on the 15th of December and report back. We should have 4 Smart Air trainers setup for testing and 3 people from Bkool Spain as well to give feedback to.

What if your in a cold shed oops I mean pain cave !? The temp when I first go in is freezing but it’s quite warm when I leave it , would the new machine be able to figure that out ? If I have the door open the sun would hit the machine - seems they might be making things hard for themselves

I hope you mean December or it will be another year overdue

It’s certainly a good looking turbo and I like the sway.
Will be interesting to see a pm comparison if possible?
