I may do the OG Racing Richmond UCI stage tomorrow, just to see how steering will affect the pack.

Skipping Bologna in the DIRT series, and FRR on Friday is a TT. So a short smash and then gym sounds good (no need for sprint legs).

I'm doing Bologna tomorrow morning. 2 laps of a drafting race, so going with Cervelo and the Enve 7.8s for decent aero without the heaviness of disc. Funny old race. 10 mins flat, 10 mins climb, 2 mins decent, 20 mins flat, 10 mins climb. Should be fun. Then a ladder race on Wednesday.

That's likely my lot for the week. The DIRT race is supposed to be steering switched off.

There are nowhere near enough drafting races on Bologna. I think I’ve done three - two one-climbs a one two-climb. They’re tactically interesting because, although it’s a smashfest on the climb, you’ve got to go hard enough to get a gap without going too far into the red.

Enjoy!

Yeah - should be "interesting" I have the best 2-minute w/kg in the line-up so far but it doesn't really look like a race that I can force that to be useful.

Also it's FAL/FTS for the Bologna lap on lap 1 and FTS on lap 2. So finishing first on lap 1 would be worth 30 points. (Although finishing first on lap 2 is worth 100 FIN). ZR.app has me at 8th, so hoping for a top 10 if I can handle the duration OK.
Secondary goal is to beat 20 minutes for the lap time (which I hope I could do with people chasing me + draft )

Celebrated too early

Alaphilipe

To be honest, even when you CAN see the opponents it's not guaranteed that your local render represents the true race result.

For finishes like that, probably 3rd person view would be better. It's crap use of the game and childish disappointment.

Having said that, we'll probably be seeing more of this sort of thing, and it will help sell more steering controllers.

This is the reaction when it doesn't go my way on Zwift

That's why I don't record sound from myself

I raced the third round of the Hill Climb Racing Club series last night. Because I was required for children's bedtimes and in the garden, I didn't get to start until 20:15, so I just sat my avatar in the pen for 45 minutes while everyone went off and did their thing. then got going in my own good time, which is okay since the classification was only on the segment time. I wonder just how long I could sit in the pen, for before my participation in the event became null and void?

There was an 11km lead-in to the climb, which was more than enough for a warmup. I was aiming to get under 7 minutes (my best in a drafting race was 7:02), which would take about 375W. I pushed my power up a bit early, forgetting that the broken arch doesn't signify the beginning of the segment. Reasonably comfortable over 400W for the first little ramp. Power dropped off a little on the flat bit through the Volcano - a little bit of respite, but keeping the speed nice and high. Then the hard work again... Died a little bit in the last minute or so - languishing around 270W for 20s or so, slightly regretting my life choices - but lifted it for a powerful finish to overcome the steep ramp.

My finishing time was 7:00.6, so although it was a PB effort on many fronts, I definitely need to go again later in the week. 376W average over the climb, CP bests from 4:10 through to 9:30, and an intervals FTP of 321W (though bizarrely I seem to have bent my CP curve such that my zFTP dropped to 298W!)

Saw your time yesterday. Thought it's a bit slow for your abilities. My PB is 7:30, and that was a finish of a full gas race. I reckon you can steal another 20s at least.

[EDIT]:
Do these hill climb events allow late join? If so, I may be able to do the OG racing at 18:10, finish that around 18:35 and jump to the hill climb that started at 18:30?

Don't underestimate how much drafting and power-ups help on a climb like this, though - it's a 32km/h+ climb so the drafting effect in bunch races is quite substantial. Beside 37kg Nile (6:32), the fastest so far is 6:47. I think that may be within my grasp; I'll try to go again on Friday evening. But I was going HARD last night - 50W more on average than I was up Fox Hill in the Splitters' race, with a W'bal loss of 30.1kJ.

Also, I wasn't riding with steering last night - I think (hope) I need to change the batteries in my Sterzo. Judging by Eric Schlange's video around Crit City, that could be worth 5 or 6 seconds...

Don't start so hard, save a bit for the last ramp...

I don't think so, but you could do what I did and enter the 19:30 event, leave yourself in the pen, and race at a convenient time. I did a couple of pedal strokes to cross the start line because I wasn't sure whether I'd be booted out otherwise. I wasn't showing on ZwiftPower LIVE until I started riding properly.

That is a fair point around drafting. I seem to remember that once we got to the climb, I've got spat out by the group - until then I kept up with the A pack. But still, would have hit the first gradient at high speed.

I can confirm you don't need to cross the start. I did something similar for the first one - the event started but I just sat there for a few minutes.

I've signed up for the 12:30 climb event - but just to see if late join works, won't be riding it.
