Tommy, I agree with your general point but think I disagree on the specific here. Last night I was on track to beat my best 20 minute power on Zwift as I approached the top of the Volcano KOM. But I got there at around 19 minutes and then my average plummeted as we went down the hill. Assuming the C's were a bit slower, they would have been just over 20 minutes at that point, which may have made it an exceptional course for 20 minute power purposes.
Overall, my average power was lower than usual for the reasons you state.
Anyway, well done @Joffey - celebrate your improvement
is the file in the device if you plug in PCJust done a sync and it says no data available

I had a good night in the end... 9th fastest up the KOM, 8th, 7th & 8th over the KOM and 5th overall. Plus a handy FTP upgrade from 303 to 321.
Thanks for the encouragement and info on the way round
Houston, we have a problem...

Am I to presume as it’s unlikely that we’ll race as hard a course in the last 2 weeks on ZRL that I’ll stay in C? And am I also to presume (as I nearly vomited last night) that until I have an epic good night again I should sit as an ‘almost B’ for a bit?
95% of 20min | 314watts / 3.21wkg |
95% of 20min | 302watts / 2.96wkg |
95% of 20min | 295watts / 2.93wkg |
Average | 304watts / 3.03wkg |
Just looked at my first 20 mins last night .. this took me from start pens to just cresting the KoM, so a very hard 20 mins and hence no surprise this was my best 20 mins for some time. Then, as yo say, the average w/kg dropped significantly as the race settled down.Tommy, I agree with your general point but think I disagree on the specific here. Even I was close - I average 238 watts for that first 20 mins / cresting the KoM, which was 3.3 w/kg for me, by far my best power for nearly a year (and I was still 16th over the KoM!!!!).I think you are right, quite a few of the top 10 in our race have now been upgraded to B or are ‘Almost B’ - It appears that it is the perfect course for a Cat C rider to bust his limit on
Yeah, it only shows Almost B because you've got one result that is above the limit. It would still show that even if your other two results were like 2.6 or something. Likewise, you could have three results that are all 3.199 w/kg and you WOULDN'T be tagged Almost B, even though logically you'd be right on the cusp of being promoted.A promotion will happen when your average of 3 races is above B limit. Your 3 race average is still only 3.03 w/kg and last night you only just broke the C limit. You would need either one spectacular ride, or 2 more like last night, to squeak into B so I think you're fine for moment
