Hoping to catch some of the race today, I'll be slowly testing the foot out, so it'll be fun to watch you guys flog yourselves up the volcano at the same time. All being well might try a race later on in the week but don't think I'll be putting out B numbers for a while.

In other news my sprint kit I won in the team IRL autumn league has arrived today! (thank you brexit and covid for making sure I lost some Christmas weight before I try it on).

Yep, that looks absolutely right.

Selection for all the races I've seen so far have happened on lap 1 on the KoM, with that group staying away.

I received the distressing news over the weekend that I must get out of my DS chair and ride tonight. I'm currently organising a Grupetto if anyone is interested?

High demand I should imagine

My takeaway from those APAC races is it isn't a pure climber's course despite the profile. It's a course for sprinters who can climb a bit. People who did well were those who could stay with the faster riders in the front group up the climb, making use of the draft because of the relatively shallow gradients, and then unleash a huge sprint in the last couple of hundred metres of the climb where it ramps up to 9-10%. Those same sprinters could then do the same at the finish line after recovering on the descent. I think the only exception was the women's A race where a solo climber did break away but there were so few riders in that race I don't think you can read too much into that.

I don't know if anyone saw Freddie Ovett's performance in the Premier division? He unleashed a 17.5+ w/kg sprint on ALL THREE KOM's to win each one, and then did the same at the finish line to win the race overall as well - completely dominant! I just wish I could do a 17.5 w/kg sprint ANY time, let alone when he did it!

I sprinted for 17.5 meters once. Might of even been 18 now I think about it :cuppa:
