@Norry1 I think @IrishAl relatively recently changed from bkool trainer with PM to a Neo so he might be able to offer some recent real life insights as to how he's found it - I think he's used power from both PM and the Neo but I'm not sure what he's settled on now?

I've had the Neo 1 for 2 ir 3 years and it's been very reliable. I did get a metallic knocking noise which is quite common after a while and is probably caused by small metal shards knocking on the magnets as there's very little space between them, but I have the flywheel removal tool and have cleaned it out and solved that issue. Apart from that, it just works flawlessly. I will never go back to a wheel on trainer that's for sure.

paul,
I have had to get my NEO og up and running and I have a metallic knocking noise. It’s intermittent knocking rather than regular. Sound familiar?

Yeah kind of. Mine sounded like there was a loose bit of metal knocking around in there. Some times sounded worse than others.

I'd be happy to post you the removal tool if you like - I lent it to @Del C recently and I think he successfully sorted his out. Send me a PM if you want to borrow it and we can exchange addresses etc

Thanks for the offer Paul. I have ordered one off of ebay. Only £15 inc delivery from your neck of the woods I think- cheddar!

Ah nice one - yeah Del mentioned there was an ebay seller in Cheddar selling them! I got mine off ebay for a similar price.

Quick tip mine didn't come with extra long bolts to attach it like I think the official Tacx one does. If yours doesn't either, and you have to use the ones already fitted like I do, it's best to remove all 6 bolts even though you only attach it with 3 - that way it sits more flush to the flywheel which you need because the bolts aren't very long.

Also, don't expect to find any visible bits of metal, just carefully clean it as best you can - gplama has a good youtube video on this

Its really nice in London today. I think the whole weekend looks good actually. Then back to
Anyone got a Tacx Neo 2T? I'm having my periodic "must buy a smart trainer/bike" and the Neo2T is my current thinking.

The GPLama and DC Rainmaker Reviews I've found are all a bit old.
I love mine. Absolutely no problems after 7 months of daily use. Seems to be very close to real life. The extra resistance makes the steep grades mimic a real hill for me at 200 pounds.

Yes Paul I went from the Bkool, to bkool with Assioma uno pedals for power source, to the Neo2. I use the Neo2 as power source now - everyone says how reliable it is but who knows?? It read around 3 to 5% lower than the pedals. I still use the assioma pedals on the turbo for recording a second power source. As BurningLegs says that can cause issues with comparing power on outdoor rides but I found a setting on the assioma app which allows you to program in an offset to the pedal which brings the readout down inline with the Neo 2 and that way i now have very similar readings on both power sources.

Tom Domoulin has taken indefinite break from racing. It does sound like retirement now

He was a great champion. His grand tour aspirations where he always seem to come up against a slightly better rider or luck just didn't go his way

I saw that earlier. I read it differently to you guys but maybe I’m being too optimistic. He’s a a cycling inspiration to me to be honest. I mean that too. Maybe we’ve all got a cycling ‘type’ we see in ourselves in the pro tanks. And I don’t know how you describe Domoulin in cycling terms but I think he’s diesel. And I guess that’s how I see myself too. Just on a much much (much much much!) lower level. A guy of that size competing in the mountains is a freak occurrence. Hope he comes back

Was it the 2015 or 16 Vuelta when he seemed to realise he could win a grand tour? I remember willing him to win and being really disappointed he didn’t. Seems a really nice thoughtful guy. Grand tours must look out of reach to the “older” generation of riders like him. A Strada Bianchi or one of the other Monuments could be a future comeback.

Always liked him, just a bit different to most.

Diesel is the word @<Tommy> , the amount of times you'd see him attacked by energetic bursts in the mountains and he'd just slowly grind back and reel them in at his own pace. Hopefully he gets his mojo back.
