Another sign of autumn coming, a pair of fieldfare just flew over. First ones I've seen.

This afternoon I had a walk on Dartmoor. I parked up from Cadover Bridge at the imerys china clay area. My plan was to walk up to Great Trowelsworthy Tor , then over the moor to Hen Tor. Hen Tor is about as secluded as it gets on the southern side of the moor. It was me , a few sheep, cows and horses.

At the pool that feeds the china clay facility there were 6 Goosander.
I also saw Wheatear, skylark, meadow pipit, buzzard and raven.

There was lots of heather around in places, and I eventually found a round leaved sundew.

Doves are frequent visitors in and around our garden, and we have a nesting pair in situ in this pic, indicated by the arrow

These type are called peaceful doves, or barred doves, or zebra doves, depending on the part of the world they're in.

A few years back I made a small dovecot specially for them, but they just ignore it, preferring a dilapidated old basket instead :laugh:
