Excuse poor photo, was in a hurry to get it out of the house and back to the wild before it became too stressed, but found this little fellow (wren?) hopping around the sitting room this morning. So tiny!

Easily caught, few paces out the patio doors and let it go, pleased to see it zoom off into the woods.

I managed to catch the Woodpecker that I hear going "Chick, chick". It was several houses away.

Middle of last night heard some scratching noise in the loft above our bedroom. Then sounds of fluttering wings. Bit odd, I think, it's usually mice, and on one occasion, rats. So I go to the next room where loft hatch is and switch on light, to discover a bat flying around. Close loft hatch, open the windows, turn off light and close door and hope. This morning it seems the bat has gone.

How it gone into the loft I've no idea. Maybe we have a roost up there. Quite a large bat to my untutored eye, but no idea what type.

I've just put some food out for the creatures of the night, then remembered as I got back in the kitchen that I had two slices of bread starting to go mouldy. They might as well have them as an additional treat. I went straight back out, and already one of the fox cubs was feeding on the peanuts on the lawn. I stood at the corner of the house, and it looked at me ... and carried on feeding.

I whistled to it. No real response. I waved a bread slice, and then threw it to the fox. It backed a few steps, then came forward again to feed. I threw the second slice and the same thing happened again. When I eventually got cold, I went inside. It was still feeding. Fearless, or it knows and trusts me.

I would guess 15 to 20 feet away.

He’s just lulling you into a false sense of security……
