Saw a solitary seal at St. Mary's Lighthouse today. Quite unusual as you usually see a whole rookery, but this fella was flying solo. I'm no expert but it did look to be in some discomfort.

There are usually wardens around so hopefully someone will be alerted if there is a problem.

Yeah, there was one, we pointed him out.

Nice chap. He'd sort of been walking around at our pace, listening to my daughter (6) rambling on. As we parted ways at the cause way he said,

"Does she ever stop?"

Me and my mum, in stereo,

"Nope!"

Tickled us all that.

Well I never, didn't know the collective noun for seals could be a "rookery", how bizarre.

There are a lot of collectives for seals.

Rookery is my personal favourite, but "bob" is a close second.
