Would you say the Peugeot 206cc is a girls car

I like them to look at but having worked with or seen them since new there are a few issues. The 1.6 is gutless, the 2.0 is not much better, they squeak and rattle a lot, the gearboxes are made of chocolate but the main point is the electrical issues. Be prepared for a lot of beeping noises, dash lights and stuff working (or not) in an awkward way.

No no no. Slush boxes are for cool dudes who don't need to hurry, and who like to keep their left hand free for their passengers ;) HUMVEE, denim shirt slashed open to the waist, medallion, Ray Ban aviators, a splash of Brut, about as manly as its possible to get. Works for Chuck Norris.
I only ever see one Humvee in real life, and I don't think anyone could possibly mistake the woman who drives it for a bloke.
She must have taken it to the car wash for her CO.

Of the many I mentioned earlier, then the Megane if a folding tin top is important. It's simply a better car than the 206CC.

Something like this:

Put a graaand in his aaaand and I'm sure it would be yours.

I test drove a (hard top) megane and thought it pretty unpleasant to be honest. Admittedly not driven the 206 specifically, but all the various peugots I have driven have been pretty good to drive (504 pick up, 305, 405, 309, 205).

I've thought about tin top, the last Megane was very good looking with the roof up, most are odd. But same old story, no matter which manufacturer, the net is littered with threads dedicated to roof problems, often problems costing more than the car to fix. With an MX5 you can get new roof fitted for sub £500 and that's going to last another 10+ years.

Back in the day, I got a new roof for my mk1 Golf Gti for about £100. Now that was a car you could love!

Anyone remember the Cavalier convertible? It actually wasn't that bad looking, especially with the roof down, but the idea of a desirable Vauxhall was still fairly new to the public at large and the only one they sold was bought by Harry Enfield.

All of those were indeed a good drive. They went awry with the 206CC and have really just languished in a pretty mediocre place since then, sadly.

That's a shame

A bit like Saab really the old 93 was a genuinely lovely car to drive, good build, with a luxury feel (based on a single test drive, sadly faulty so didn't buy), but the later one is not a particularly nice car to drive, plasticky and disapointing.
I dare say there's nowt wrong with it per se, but it's a shadow of its former self

Exactly as the old Saab (I think you mean the 900?) vs the 9-3, created when GM started cutting costs and generally de-contenting Saabs. The rest, as they say...

I did mean the 93, or I should have said 9-3 I think. The "old" 9-3 was nice and I think it was an update of the 900. The later one, basically a vectra is not particularly nice. The old one I test-drove was 10+ years old convertible and was great, albeit had a fault so I didn't buy, but the new style one I test drove was a brand new potential company car, and wasn't at all nice - went for a Skoda instead, which is fairly nice to drive, quite well built, and the hooligan model I got went like a rocket.
