The Wild Geese.
Classic mercs in Africa tale with great action, heavyweight stars plus Roger Moore and many bit part mercs played by men who are not acting.

Longlegs. 3/10. My SS watched it in the cinema and said it was rubbish, so naturally I thought I'd enjoy it because he thinks everything is rubbish. But it was in fact rubbish

Gladiator II

Semi enjoyable nonsense, not as good as the first one. Especially as they somehow manage to make all the battles (especially the opening attack) less impressive than the originals. Plus rabid baboons and domesticated sharks make the thing a farce.

OK'ish. Interesting but maybe only 4/10 in that I didn't feel wasted time, but wouldn't consider watching it againie knowing what I know now I wouldn't record/watch it.

Startrek - The Darkness.
Excellent acting as the villian by Benedict Cumberbatch. The rest entertaining, but when Spock was chasing & battling with Khan through the San Francisco metropolis, just wondered where the heck security / police were all that time.

Ma - 6.5/10

Would have fallen apart badly without Olivia Spencer to be honest, as it's a pretty standard exploitation/revenge story which doesn't really bring anything new to the genre. That said, it's far from the worst take I've seen and I like that it doesn't shy away from its influences.

Babygirl at the cinema. Wasn't my choice but was the only film that worked for timings.
Absolute rubbish. Surprised people didn't walk out in it. Nicole Kidman needs to take some time off from the Botox etc etc and take a break from being a film star. Also the story was bobbins. And inadvertently hilarious.
Avoid.

Number 24, courtesy of Netflix.
Norway under Nazi occupation and one mans fight as part of the resistance.
It flits between him recounting his experiences in his old age to the younger generation and himself as that young man.

Interestingly part of his story comes back to haunt him when he meets one of those younger generation.

A very good watch. 1hr 52 mins iirc, a little thin on detail when he's a young man, doesn't go into great detail but very good all the same.

Eraserhead...perhaps THE weirdest and yet strangely captivating film i ever watched

My wife never tires of telling people that I took her to see Eraserhead on our first date. I'm not sure that's technically true and I'm not sure what defines a "date". It was pretty early on though and maybe not the best choice.
