My wife never tires of telling people that I took her to see Eraserhead on our first date. I'm not sure that's technically true and I'm not sure what defines a "date". It was pretty early on though and maybe not the best choice.

Yer, Eraserhead as an opening gambit for a romantic evening...perhaps not eh ? 😆

Just started watching 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World' again.
Even of 1963 vintage, with the unquestionable quality of the top notch cast and script, it's become a classic. ^_^

Just got to about half way through and the screen suddenly showed an 'Intermission' sign - !
Had forgotten that back in the early 60s, any film of about two hours or more was invariably given an intermission for folk to stretch their legs and buy more goodies from the sales stands - !
Ben Hur & The longest Day spring to mind.

The only film I've seen that happen in was Alexander, the Oliver Stone one with Colin Farrell. About half the audience left at the intermission and I can't say I blame them.

Used to love an interval at the movies/pics ! Highlight of going as a kid.
With films getting longer it's a good thing for a toilet break or munchie refill isn't it...looking forward to seeing The Brutalist and I know that's 3 1/2 hours long.

Alien Romulus 8/10. I loved most of the previous films (apart from Prometheus) so I was hoping this one would be good, and it was. It works as a standalone film but there are some obvious and more subtle nods to the older films. It was more or less confined to one area for the whole film, much like ALien and Aliens, which worked quite well. Even though the main character was a Ripley clone, it provided a good ending.

Eyewitness (AKA Sudden Terror), a British thriller from 1970.

Starring the likes of Mark (oliver) Lester, Lionel Jeffries, Peter Vaughan and Peter Bowles, I was expecting a light hearted and not very thrilling 'thriller'... I think i only watched it to see if Mark Lester could act or not (he really can't)... but since he spent most of the movie looking frightened and running away, his theatrical inabilities were of little concern.

Whilst some of the dialogue is very ropey indeed, there's certain shots and scenes which suggest a very competent director; the elevator scene is beyond brilliant and from there the level of tension just builds and builds. It's hard to take Vaughan and Bowles seriously as the bad guys, but they play a couple of ruthless killers who who don't think twice about shooting a child, her father or a priest. Despite the ropey dialogue and some shoddy acting, this is a very thrilling thriller which i can't recommend highly enough. 8/10

Prescience - 4/10

A neat but far from original concept which ends up going for shocks when the whimsy runs thin. Lucy Liu does her best to drag it along but ultimately isn't given much to work with in a fairly banal effort at a supernatural tale.
