What film did you watch last night?

Beasts of No Nation. It's one of those Netflix original jobbies so I don't think had a cinema release but it's well worth a watch if you're on t'flix and like your films bleak. The plot follows a young boy in an unnamed West African country who loses his family in a civil war and joins a child soldier militia, headed by Idris Elba's character, the "commandant". A very tough watch and not one for the nippers though.

A nice cozy night in at the Yahuda household!

I've watched it a few times. Once MrsRM came in at the 'new born' scene and was understandably appalled. When I pointed out it actually got worse she shook her head sadly and walked out the room.

I've watched a lot of controversial,disturbing films and that deserves its rating as one of the most ...

Definitely up (or down) there as one of the most depraved, I'd include Salo and The Guinea Pig Series too.

The director has claimed it's allegorical tale about the way the Serbian government acts, and it sort of works on that level, but you really, really have to hold the concept in your mind which isn't easy.

Stuff like this is nothing new. Artists through the ages have set out to shock and horrify. If Serbian Film is the current peak someone is going to have to go really off on one to top it.

i just watched the US trailer for A Serbian Film..it looks a bit like severance and Hostle..ill watch it if it comes up on my play list

I'd be surprised if it was any streaming play list. You can get the uncut version for around a tenner on Amazon

in comparison to Once Upon a Time in the West and The Good The Bad & The Ugly, the 'dollars' films are pretty dire (IMO)... and the less said about A Fistful of Dynamite, the better.

I like Fistfull of Dynamite. OK it's not a cinematic masterpiece but it's bloody good fun.

Not films a such, from the Johnny Worricker trilogy, Page 8, night before last and Turks and Caicos last night.
Warriker is a long serving MI5 analyst, who discovers something that he shouldn't, or perhaps was meant to.
Great cast in both (Bill Nighy is so laid back), great script. The 3rd, Salting the battlefield, tonight.

So far 9/10

john wick . very good . good story and set pieces . only down side is the james bond bit were they capture him but dont kill him straight away because they want a chat . cue escape to carry on bloody rampage
