The Man Who Would Be King.

Michael Caine and Sean Connery, I wanted to switch it off after fifteen minutes, but forced myself to watch it all, 5/10.

Admittedly not watched it for a long time, but I though it a rather superior romp and rather fun, and with a dark side to it too

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Solace starring Anthony Hopkins. Its about a psychic who helps the FBI catch a serial killer. Rather good. 8/10.

Dredd - the (relatively) new one. Really rather good. Essentially an extended shoot out, but brings out the darkness of the Mega City and Dredd himself. As a fan of the comic strip, I have to say it brought it across well, albeit little comedy. Not for everyone, but a bleak dark film, true to its source, and having something to say. I'm in the minority in also liking the Stallone one, silly though it is and miles off the original comic.

Properly love that movie. It's nothing more than 90 minutes of big, dumb fun. Essentially Mad Max in a tower block.

The film I watched last night was The Revenant. It's incredibly gruelling. Leo does his Best Actoring, but it's no Weekend At Bernie's.

Kevin and Perry has just started.

I don't know how many times I've seen it, but it always makes me laugh.

Ex-machina. What a shile of pite that was. I'm amazed we got to the end of it as it was a right waste of the time we spent watching it. 6/10.

Hateful Eight - 7/10

Good story, neat twist, beautifully shot, ridiculously over the top violence, very funny and self aware, but let down by a couple of things...

The accents were properly all over the place. There's a reason certain characters are faking it and some do it well (Tim Roth) but others, most notably Channing Tatum, do not.

Having Channing Tatum listed in the opening credits kind of kills the twist. Once you've been introduced to everyone else and they've made a big point of how they'll be spending the rest of the film in the cabin I started to work out what was going on and picking sides. They should have done a Se7en and left him off.

Total overuse of the term "nigger". This isn't a word I find offensive, and in certain scenes it did make sense, but there were times it seemed as though it was just chucked in for the sake of it which totally pulled me out of the story. My viewing companions agreed.

I'm seeing it again through the week so I'll see if my other mate thinks the same.

Changed my mind about my third complaint. On second viewing it wasn't as jarring as I had thought. However I'm swapping it for another.

Tarantino's stupid voiceover bits.

Bridge of Spies - a remarkable performance from Mark Rylance playing the Soviet spy. Utterly compelling to watch, his naturalistic style and totally convincing Scots accent were the highlights of a pretty good film all in all.

Not a film exactly , but watched four episodes back-to-back.

Classic Doctor Who - Face of Evil. Tom Baker first meets Leela. Really rather good - definitely one of the better ones. Good plot - the Doctor returns to a planet he'd seemingly visited in the distant past and finds his intervention had all gone wrong. Leela at last gives us a strong woman character who can fight and kill, and never screams or be useless. Clever plot involving a high-tech group and a savage tribe.
