Philip Seymour Hoffman gives a good but not great performance as a German spook chasing down Al Qaeda financiers in a good but not great film.
funnily enough, I was listening to a Paul Thomas Anderson interview that touched on Philip Seymour Hoffman. Anderson said something like "Good grief, he was in some rubbish, but he was always the best thing on screen when he was."

I'm with you there Monty. Much as I love For a Few Dollars More, it's basically like a good pop song - entertaining, good for its genre, but that's about it. Once upon a time in the west is for sure a classic western, but it's more than that. It's a genre-transcending Great Movie, by any standards.

Henry Fonda's definitely one of those bankable stars - pretty much without fail, if he's in it, you know it'll be worth watching.

in comparison to Once Upon a Time in the West and The Good The Bad & The Ugly, the 'dollars' films are pretty dire (IMO)... and the less said about A Fistful of Dynamite, the better.

TBH I can't remember one from another - they're all just a bit of fun with predictable plots, larger than life characters and lots of Ennio Morriconi.
