Spectre - An unconvincing Daniel Craig woodenly squints and pouts through an unmemorable tale of little interest, supported by a cast of equally unremarkable and seemingly bored folk.

Christopher Waltz appears to add much needed interest

All Is Lost
An outstanding film about survival and the will to carry on when all is lost, existential metaphor for life. Robert Redford carries the film entirely, brilliant and nuanced performance. 9/10, watched on Netflix

What a coincidence, I only did half an hour, but enjoyed it. Got the rest tonight.

The Sapphires - a bit rough at the edges, particularly the script, which was crying out for a final polish, but the central performances and a general air of fun & enthusiasm carried it through. Some terrific performances of Stax-tracks by the core girl-group. Think The Commitments starring aboriginal girls touring 'Nam. Good feelgood movie for NYE.

Lore

Harrowing, dreamlike, beautiful at turns - the story of the children of a high ranking Nazi in the immediate aftermath of the second world war. Having been shielded from the realities of Hitler's Germany, they set out to reach their Grandmother, trying to come to terms with both the shattered country they find themselves inhabiting, and their parents' past.

IMDB's 7/10 severely undersells this.

Operation Crossbow.

Sophia Loren, Trevor Howard, George Peppard, John Mills, and Richard Todd.

A stirring tale of giving the Nazis a jolly good punch on the nose, I love the old war films.

6/10.

We watched Avengers: age of ultron as we are all Marvel fans then once my daughter went to bed we watched Mrs Browns Boys: da movie, which was as bad as anybody can imagine.

To night was going to be kingsmen but Sherlock is on and we are all fairly knackered after a long chilly walk down the coast

As you do when new year celebrations have died down, I stuck Se7en on, recorded from the telly. Saw it in the cinema 20 years ago, watched it countless times since on VHS/DVD, and it remains undiminished.
