Sicario - Benicio Del Toro - Mexican drug cartels etc. Suspenseful drama with a message about morals and the war on drugs

The only one of his I've been able to watch all the way through is Pulp Fiction.

I was thinking along the lines of Memphis Belle, Where Eagles Dare, Saving Private Ryan, etc.

I'm not sure you'd enjoy it - it's nothing like any of those: hyper-stylised with the sort of dialogue you'd expect from Tarantino.

I was a huge fan of the books, so not keen on seeing the adaptations. It's not hilarious, but it is a fun film, so I'll recommend it.

7/10

the new Charlie Brown film. Pretty poor and very dull - maybe 2/10 as some scenes had technical merit. Given the high standard of many of the pure entertainment films such as Kung Fu Panda, Despicable Me and quite a lot else, never mind utter perfection of The wrong Trousers, this really was a dud.

I should add we were taking our nephew and our low expectations failed to be met

So happy. My eldest is now watching proper kids films. We're sat watching Herbie Rides Again, one of my favourite film when I was a kid, and it's as good as I remember it and she's enjoying it too.

watched it the other day, classic film, a favourite bit is when Herbie goes swimming, then theres a shark, then a surfer, they ask the surfer for directions but don't mention there's a massive shark not too far away...^_^
It's brilliant. Starting to compile a list of films to get for her. Thinking of ET next.

This afternoon on TV - National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Caught the start and just got drawn into it. It passed a couple of hours.
This evening at the cinema - Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It was everything I'd hoped it would be. Truly a genuine successor to the original trilogy.

Sherlock Holmes A Game Of Shadows

It's beautiful, well acted, and an interesting take on the character but as much as I love Robert Downey Jnr and though he does well, it's just not him.

Perhaps Cumberbatch has ruined it for any American actor.

An outstanding film about survival and the will to carry on when all is lost, existential metaphor for life. Robert Redford carries the film entirely, brilliant and nuanced performance. 9/10, watched on Netflix

Robocop.
The new version with less of the Verhoeven shock tactics. It's a less heartless world and there's the family element. Not bad.
Don't know which version I prefer.

Too hooked on the Game of Thrones box set we got from santa at the moment!
