San Andreas . Vomit inducing tripe . Americans will love it so will idiots of the rest of the world . The story was copies of every disaster movie ever made badly put together covered in thick American sugar with added vomit inducing sentiment. To finish it off I am not sure if anyone in it knows how to act .

I've just forced myself to watch the first forty minutes of King Arthur from 2004.

Ray Winstone doesn't like to ham it up and overact in an historical epic does he?

The Lego Movie

Lots of fun, and very inventive. Spoiled slightly by a couple of segments towards the end that don't fit the manic sensibility of the rest of the film
namely the live action bits, which were a bit sentimental, predictable, and sapped the energy of the narrative, for me at least

I laughed more at Paddington, tbh, but everything was fairly awesome, nonetheless.

Frankenweenie - 8/10

Tim Burton at his animated finest. More nods to his influences than you can shake a stick at and completes the theoretical trilogy of his animated films. There are some folk who reckon all his original films are linked, but I'm not sold on that one yet.

Anyway, it's funny, touching, dark and beautifully made.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - 9/10

Originally I thought this was the Tim Burton disaster (when he gets it wrong, he gets it very wrong) but was told by a friend to check it out, and I'm glad a I did. It's brilliant. Visually amazing with an excellent story and plenty to say about humanity. About half way through I made a bet with myself that Caesar was Andy Serkis. I am now £5 better off. Is anyone else allowed to do motion capture these days?

Discussed it with my mate after and he said "The Tim Burton one doesn't count. Though in a way I'm grateful it exists as I don't think they'd have made Rise if they weren't compelled to right the terrible wrong he made."

Hard to argue with that.

If offended by swearing, give it a wide berth, but some glorious put downs and comments.

Trying to talk to a minister who liked listening to opera whilst working:
"Turn that f*****g racket off! It's just vowels. Subsidised foreign f******g vowels".

"KUNG FURY is an over-the-top action comedy written and directed by David Sandberg. The movie features: arcade-robots, dinosaurs, nazis, vikings, norse gods, mutants and a super kung fu-cop called Kung Fury, all wrapped up in an 80s style action packed adventure"

Absolutely superb 30 short film, and well worthy of it's 8.5 rating on IMDB

Sounds like Meteor... the mother of all disaster movies. It flopped, and rightly so.

The Equalizer.

Rehash of the classic 80s TV show, now starring Denzel Washington. Watchable but slow going in places and definitely over long. He's moved to Boston now as well and no longer drives a Jag (although one does make an appearance...)

And left as wide open as can be for a sequel...
