Been watching some of the world cycling championships on TV over the last few days. Took me back to 1982, when I was off work, sick with something and watching the world's. I'd just bought a VCR and tried recording every snippet. Only just binned the cassette. Made me realise, that was over 40 years ago - made me feel old.

But then I remembered I saw the world's at Leicester in person, 12 years previously. Now I feel truly ancient.

Didn't go to the velodrome, just watched the pro road race. Hardly saw the riders, they just sped past several times.

When you have'nt heard from someone for a while and you wonder if they have died? I always think that now and I would never have thought that years ago.

There's a retired bloke I know, who looks after his must be mid 90's year old mother. His dad's grave is always well kept with fresh flowers, wiped/brushed down etc, but now it doesn't have any flowers on and is splattered with bird muck. Yesterday I asked a barman of a pub he goes in if he's seen this bloke lately. He said "Come to think of it, I haven't seen him for a month or so".

I've just got back from an emo night at a local music venue. Most of the people there were in their teens or early twenties. They had obviously grown-up listening to their parents CDs.

You can get drunk as quickly as you did when you first started drinking.

Also if you getting seriously blotted, it takes three days to get over the hangover, as a youngest I'd get up next day and go to work as if I'd not been plastered the night before.

and just in case I've posted this before, as you get older you find yourself repeating yourself.
