My town had events since Thursday but I've worked throughout so missed it all apart from trying to get to work with the road closures. Too far to cycle so was sat in the car. I work in a supermarket so we had bunting up. I wore a badge and a union flag scrunchie which a few customers liked but none of my colleagues bothered or cared about the jubilee so I was the only one.
I caught a bit of trooping the colour and loved the Paddington Bear tribute but that was it. I have great memories of the 1977 silver jubilee as I was living on an army camp and a brownie too lol, still have my mug from school.

No street or garden party here. We have a nice communal garden area for these 16 flats, but it's hardly used. We could've made an effort, but it didn't happen. Judging by the bunting and flags not on display, apart from mine, these miserable gits wouldn't have been enthusiastic if I'd have suggested it. This Jubilee has been a once in a lifetime event. I'm glad I put my flag and some bunting out to commemorate it! I was going to take my flag down on Monday, but I'm gonna leave it up for a while yet, to piss them all off!

The procession on Sunday was quite something to see.
Delighted to see one of those round orange cars in there - not seen one for 40 plus years and I was excited back then.
Everyone seemed to have had a great time and there's been precious little of that for a long while so it's been a nice few days.

We had an excellent picnic in the village on Friday. Took place at our village sports club, bar open, a few gazebos dotted around, simple kids games, bring your own picnic. About 200 people turned up from age 8 months to 77 years.

A good time was had by all. Not a flat in sight and I didn't hear "jubilee" mentioned once. Just a great day bringing everyone together.

Yet this event just happened to coincide with the Jubilee weekend. Please tell, what was the occasion? 🤔

I hate to say this but leaving your bunting up for a bit longer probably doesn't p off your miserable git neighbours one bit. If people have no interest in the queen, jubilees and monarchy as a whole it doesn't follow that they don't like bunting, they could just not the monarchy, royal family, constitutional stupidity, etc.

Still, I hope you all enjoyed your parties. We had a great 4 day weekend, which was the only part of your jubilee that was a very good idea. The rest a colossal waste of money.

Oh and we met a few more Ukrainian war refugees too. A much better thing our local community has done is give Ukrainians shelter than celebrate a 90 plus year old who can't seem to retire.

You can do both.

You’ve got to remember who the audience for this sort of thing is.
My kids couldn’t give a monkeys but my parents watch it. So they want to hear songs they know.

I presume they were all there for free yesterday. And you can’t really blame the old rockers if they still have a fan base.
It will be interesting to see how good Paul McCartney is at Glastonbury.

I’d rather hear an old authentic voice than a clearly mimed performance from Diana Ross.

was it mimed? the sound at the beginning was awful so I assumed all live.
God knows why she got top billing anyway - american I thought.

there was a fair amount of bunting and flags around lancashire villages (I have no issue with that for special national occasions) and saw one place with a trio - union jack/flag of st george/ukranian flag.
Burnley sunday saw evidence of not a lot - but a rather sad looking gathering in the town centre rallied by a clergyman of some sort - tiny gathering looked a bit oranges are not the only fruit, accompanied by a sliver of the Accrington band.

I have no issue with the jubilee while we have the system we have, but the god botherers of all stripes seem to have piggy-backed it a bit - where the hell have you all been the last two years of plague?

I've had a really good long weekend, got a lot of little jobs done, a bit of cycling and a fair bit of nothing at all.

The only bit of the jubilee stuff I saw was the flypast which was on the telly at a friend's house when I called round. If I'd been at home, and if I'd remembered I might have watched that with binoculars from my local park.

I saw the "Battle of Britain Flight" which unaccountably contained a Lancaster bomber. Am I being overly pedantic in pointing out that this particular type of aircraft had nothing to do with the Battle of Britain?

the Lancaster is a regular part of it - fair enough - have seen at air shows a few times - same conflict - would you have preferred a messerschmitt?

Maybe not 14 of the 15 neighbours, but it will affect 1 in particular. He's the one who's hassled me in the past, with me having to call the police out to him. He told me (when we spoke to each other before he had a drunken rant) that he hates the Royal Family because "they had Princess Diana killed". "I loved her...they killed her" he said as he stared into space, going all bleary eyed. He also likes to think he's the unofficial warden of these flats, telling folk what to do ("don't put flags etc up, it attracts trouble"), criticising those who 'don't comply'. Believe me, my flag and bunting will be peeing him off immensely!!:okay:

sounds like a stalker - did he declare his love to her in green-ink letters?
did he finger any particular royal?
