I haven't watched any of it live (No tv) but I'll have a look later on youtube for the highlights.

If its half as good as the Olympic opening ceremony I'll be happy.

I turned over and saw a lass in a gown singing. Well I thought she was but the sound was rubbish either she had a very weak voice or the PA and recording was poor. Either way I thought I would not want to waste my time with it anymore.

There was a concert in the desert in USA few years back where the average age of the performers was higher than the age of retirement. It's time the old, money grabbing fossils give up on selling out their musical legacy at gigs with their tired, old, cracked voices!

You’ve got to remember who the audience for this sort of thing is.
My kids couldn’t give a monkeys but my parents watch it. So they want to hear songs they know.

I presume they were all there for free yesterday. And you can’t really blame the old rockers if they still have a fan base.
It will be interesting to see how good Paul McCartney is at Glastonbury.

I’d rather hear an old authentic voice than a clearly mimed performance from Diana Ross.

I've had a really good long weekend, got a lot of little jobs done, a bit of cycling and a fair bit of nothing at all.

The only bit of the jubilee stuff I saw was the flypast which was on the telly at a friend's house when I called round. If I'd been at home, and if I'd remembered I might have watched that with binoculars from my local park.

I saw the "Battle of Britain Flight" which unaccountably contained a Lancaster bomber. Am I being overly pedantic in pointing out that this particular type of aircraft had nothing to do with the Battle of Britain?

The mission of the BBMF (the "M" is for "Memorial) is officially "to maintain the priceless artefacts of our national heritage in airworthy condition in order to commemorate those who have fallen in the service of this country."

Many more aircrew died in Lancasters than in Spitfires or Hurricanes.

But why "Battle of Britain"? That was over before the Lancaster entered service (or if not, it was a close run thing).

I'm just being pedantic about the name.

Commentary was a bit out on the fly passes from Hugh Edwards, for example the memorial flight apparently had three of one and two of the other in terms of Hurricanes and Spitfires when it was two of each.

Agreed. It was a mess! Seemed as though he had a list of the participants and no idea which was which. Either that or the sound and video sync was lost

When you're criticising someone, best to get their name right.

Apparently Huw was ensconced in an OB caravan somewhere, unable to see the actual flypast, and his commentary was dependent on what the director chose to show on whatever screen he was watching at the time.

If we're being picky, while we're at it he failed to mention at all the Phenom/Texan combo, and he was describing in detail the P-8 and RC-135 while viewers were seeing the A400M and C-17 on the screen.

No excuse for inventing an extra Spitfire, though ...
