Thanks. What a boring, sensible explanation.

I'm probably not the only person in the country for whom it set off pedantry alarms. Everyone else was going "wooo" and me and half a dozen other nerds were saying "Well, actually, the Lancaster didn't enter service until 1942, by which time the Battle of Britain was over". And everyone else was rolling their eyes.

Is it time to wheel out the "which Tyler led the pedants' revolt?" gag?

Maybe not 14 of the 15 neighbours, but it will affect 1 in particular. He's the one who's hassled me in the past, with me having to call the police out to him. He told me (when we spoke to each other before he had a drunken rant) that he hates the Royal Family because "they had Princess Diana killed". "I loved her...they killed her" he said as he stared into space, going all bleary eyed. He also likes to think he's the unofficial warden of these flats, telling folk what to do ("don't put flags etc up, it attracts trouble"), criticising those who 'don't comply'. Believe me, my flag and bunting will be peeing him off immensely!!:okay:

Sounds like someone worth the effort to pee off. Keep up the good work! 😆

I hate to say this but leaving your bunting up for a bit longer probably doesn't p off your miserable git neighbours one bit. If people have no interest in the queen, jubilees and monarchy as a whole it doesn't follow that they don't like bunting, they could just not the monarchy, royal family, constitutional stupidity, etc.

Still, I hope you all enjoyed your parties. We had a great 4 day weekend, which was the only part of your jubilee that was a very good idea. The rest a colossal waste of money.

Oh and we met a few more Ukrainian war refugees too. A much better thing our local community has done is give Ukrainians shelter than celebrate a 90 plus year old who can't seem to retire.

I hate to break it to you, but offering help to refugees and having a street party are not mutually exclusive activities.

Never mind the planes ...
What upset me is that none of the pilots were genuine WWII veterans

I bet they weren't even armed either:laugh:

They showed No 10 Downing Street on the news last night about the same time as the vote of no confidence was taking place. It still has its bunting up. I can see folk keeping theirs up for not only weeks, but months and maybe till the end of the Jubilee year. Then why take it down, as next year it's the 70th anniversary of the coronation. 🇬🇧
I might ask the housing association who own my flat if I'd be allowed to get a flag holder fitted to my wall so I don't have to hang my flag from window to window string. 🤔

I'd advise the good people of Accrington to take the bunting down ASAP.

It could be perceived that they are perfectly happy with gross financial inequality and that they don't need any levelling-up funding.

🙂

Was the jubilee that won it (lost it for b) maybe the history books will write in the future.
