But why would you choose to ridicule someone just because they wear a helmet?
Because I'd ridicule them if they carried a rabbits foot and thought it made a difference. As, I suspect would you. But I am sure you are a much nicer human being than me, so maybe not.

But why are you ridiculing them ? Its their choice isnt it. ...do you walk around town ridiculing (what you perceive) to be a minority group.

Do you do it their face ?
I have had umpteen conversations with people, some on bikes, some not, in UK giving it the "why ain't you wearing a helmet?" routine.

I've spoken to several dozen Danes about why they wear a helmet, and all, bar one, have rolled their eyes and admitted they either do it to shut the significant other, who does not cycle, or children, up, or to persuade their kids to wear one. Come to think of it the one was a Swede from Malmo and he just told me to Feck Off.

Friends can take ridicule, the ability to laugh at yourself is a key skill.

No low branches on the roads I ride. I wear a helmet when rock climbing too. And when riding a motorbike. And when longboarding.

Risk assessment. Funny old game.

Why are helmet wearers 'nobbers' then ? Im intrigued that you can put so much effort into a thread with this pre conceived idea..
You could try reading. I suggest you try finding a post which refers to helmet wearers as "nobbers". There are of course plenty that refer to a certain type of helmet evangelist as "nobbers" ... but surprise, surprise, that is a different thing.

tbh I may well have referred to helmet wearing cph bike rides as nobbers.

Shame on me eh? You should hear what I have to say about the complete and utter total ******G ****S who wear hi-viz* here**

*hi-biz doth offend mine eye.

**british expats who would not dream of cycling in Blighty, to a man. And it is always men.

I carry a rabbit's foot and a St Christopher amd I'm not dead yet.

Bad news...

St Christopher isn't actually a Canonised Saint, merely a traditional one. This is one of the reasons why his feast day was removed from the liturgical calender

Does the law of gravity work differently in Copenhagen vs Berwick-on-Tweed.

Technically it does!

Gravity is a function of many factors including latitude, altitude and the geology of the area

For instance an object has 0.5% greater "weight" at the poles than at the equator, On the top of Everest "weight" decreases by about 0.2% from that at sea level.

So in fact Gravity is probably different ....

I know. But one city on the east coast of an island at the same latitude is much the same as another. ;)

I reckon about 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%

Could be significant?

It could also mean that taller riders benefit more (or less) from helmets than short riders

So you wear a helmet when you choose but ridicule riders for wearing a helmet when they choose, nice.:banghead:

^This. Even though I wear one from time to time. In situations where I judge it might have some utility.

In Denmark I'm tall. In Sweden I'm not.

Choices, choices.
