The CycleChat Helmet Debate Thread

MOD NOTE:
We're going to have to wade through a few pages and Delete a whole load of posts, as talking about the qualifications of First Responders, along with some other topics over the last few pages, is so far off topic, it is to cease now.

Providing the fact remains that the individual posting the original image is unqualified to make that comment and in doing so without the patient's consent was following a personal agenda and not acting in the interest of the patient

Ben comes onto the forum and proves his helmet saved his life

A broken helmet was shown and a claim made that it saved a life. That seems to be enough for you.

I provided a photo of a ginger cake along with the rider's claim that it too saved his life.
I showed a further example where it was claimed a rucksack saved a pedestrian's life, supported by a reported endorsment by police and doctors. These are genuine reports you can read for yourself. Somehow that's not viewed by you with the same degree of belief.

He has no more 'proved' that the helmet saved his life than I have with my two examples.

.... and of course there is the possibility that the helmet was compromised by the owner and hence contributed to their own injury

....
It could prove the helmet took the brunt of the impact at the time of the incident, but only the owner of the helmet can verify that.

some of this lot witnessed a fellow cc'er falling on his head, he even posted the helmet damage - they still refused to acknowledge the helmet had any noticeable effect on his well being..or not...it was very awkward for them...
