Both are named such, for the inportant railway junctions that intersected in the town
The Midland seems to have a slightly unsavoury reputation, as it seems to keep closing/licence suspended
The railway station isn't too far away (less than 300yards)

A new sign, as someone's actually realised why it bears that name, for a long time, it just had a 'cross-roads' on the sign

This is a very recent addition, as I have't seen it in the past week or so, plus the local feral youths haven't spray-painted over it

The section of the building to the extreme left was 'Rushworths', the local papershop, where I bought my Cycling Weekly from
Midland Hotel. from *2 is in the background

I know of the railways history, but not about the post office
At the time of construction, it was the worlds longest platform, at 1/4 mile long!

I remember the buildings being there, but not in use (barring, maybe a couple of store-rooms?\\\\0

All of the sidings/goods yard have gone, with houses built there
Every trace of a building is now obliterated (the road bridge is the same, but with the arches filled)
The pedestrian bridge to the 'Station Hotel', later the Flying Scotsman has gone, with just traces of the abutments left (now rebuilt, as 'apartments')
Queen Victoria stayed there once

Firstly, a BM on the Post Office in St Giles' Street, Northampton.. As it's in an alcove, I think the green algae is of a dubious origin!

Beckets Well pic taken from Beckets Park so I didn't get mown down by the traffic!

Somewhere @Drago might know well: the Old Police Station in Angel Street.. 👮

The bridge to the left is the 1980s concrete aquaduct carrying the Aire & Calder Navigation Canal over the River Calder
(a grade 1 listed cast-iron aquaduct is out of sight, to the left)

They’re cleaning all of the detritus from earlier high-water
It’s about 12 foot from the mesh to the river, but sometimes it flows over it
(this is a normal level)

I'm not certain when one solitary stall (selling womens clothes) constitutes a market!!

A re-visit, on a dog-walk, this 'village' isn't too far away from where we live
(we did look online, whilst there, at a cottage that's for sale up there - at a surprising price!!)
