Cycling yesterday - 80 miles if anyone was curious - on the hike and bike trail I always smile at everyone, unless they are riding an ebike nonsense thing, but it occurred to me as I smile at the young women riding and running that they probably think I am leering at them.

I say hi to those on ebikes, a lot I see are often elderly and whilst it might be wrong to generalise some of the ones I see don't look particularly fit but they are out on a bike so good on them. If ebikes get more people out riding then I don't see an issue.

I have noticed when you see a couple male and female out cycling, you nod or say hello. The bloke usually doesn’t crack his face but the lady gives you a big smile.

Clearly I ride an ebike
but there is a huge difference between a legal "proper" one and the electric motorbikes

Mine simply means I can ride further and still be sure I can get home if my asthma crops up or my knees give way (again!)

Personally I would have a category for slightly disabled people who can ride but not walk well - to have ebikes for mobility if they wanted one instead of a mobility scooter

I am pretty sure my wife would have a basic ebike with a throttle whereas she will not have a scooter as she "is not at that point yet"
(which is exactly what her Mum used to say - which I am not mentioning!!!)

Today there were a lot of people on the canal paths when I went for a ride (as mentioned elsewhere)

but I did notice that a lot more cyclists said hello or nodded or whatever

maybe people are feeling happier as the weather improves
