Whilst heading home from an overnight stay at the caravan, we detoured to a farmshop/cafe that we've been to before (& it allows dogs in the cafe!)
After ordering & paying, I took Doris for a wander round the parking area, to see if she'd have a widdle, & noticed these bricks about a yard apart from each other
(the cafe is mile or so, off the A59, east of the A1, at jct 47)
What's the chances, that 30 miles (or so) away from the brickyards, we're up in North Yorkshire, I just glance at the ground & spot them?!?
Both are less than a 5-6 mile radius, from where we live

Nostell Brickworks is still there, not far off the A638/Wakefield - Doncaster road, opposite Nostell Priory
The only Castleford Brickworks that I can see, is essentially the other side of railway from the rubgy ground

I don't think there's any around Castleford, that I know of

These 2 shops don’t feature on Geograph, but the old Library was almost directly opposite
(the A650 dual-carriageway, heading north-west, intersects the M1 at jct 41)

There's no photograph, but the Church is very close; https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1492811
It was the worst mining disaster in British history; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oaks_explosion

The (Barnsley born) sculptor is the same chap, who's responsible for the one of Eric Bartholemew, in his home town, who also has a pub named after him, another star of the screen was born opposite it (see 3rd photograph)

'Dickie Bird'
Oaks Colliery Disaster Memorial

(junction of Church Road & Church Street)
Barnsley

He was born very close to the location of the statue, but the houses were demolished as 'slum clearances' in the mid 1930's

Victoria Avenue
(off Carlton Lane)
Rothwell
Leeds

I've featured this row before, but this morning, due to traffic had to stop by the junction
I've never really noticed the erosion of the sandstone wall before (possibly just 'the right light'?)

Once I'd parked at ALDI, & taken my mother in for her shopping, I walked back the few dozen yards to take these

The Jockey (as was, & built as Horse & Jockey)
NorthGate
Wakefield

A 1930s building, I think built for Melbourne Breweries (of Woodlesford)
In the late 80s/early 90s, this was the 'biker/heavy metal' pub in the city centre

Co-Operative Society?
Ledger Lane
Lofthouse
Leeds
(but oddly, that area still has a Wakefield postcode & phone-number)

I believe that this is the original premises to #1, & is 'next door', where the new tarmac is seen on the pavement, at the other side of Co-Operative Street

The M62 section shown, is between jct 29 ('Thorpe Interchange', where it crosses the M1) & jct 30; https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3722212
