Anglers Country Park
Wintersett
Wakefield

When l was running, this was the start point for the Sunday morning ‘easy 10 miler’
The lake was an opencast site

Plus it’s adjacent to (what is taken to be) the Worlds first nature reserve; Waterton Park

UNESCO World Heritage listing was being sought, particularly when the HS2 threat was worse; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-68656055 (& it still is, I believe)

High water levels
River Aire
Castleford

Looking along Barnsdale Road/A656, towards 'Mary Pannall' & eventually 'HookMoor' (where the A1 & M1 join)
Water levels had dropped, as someone told me that the post I was stood by (& where I turned round) was the high water mark this morning
Going by the number of cars down there, some chump had tried driving through it
(I have a photograph, probably in this thread, of some absolute idiot walking through, with the water up to his armpits, quite a few years ago)

The flooding isn't helped by the fact that the Calder & Aire join here, a 'couple of 100 yards' upstream of the weir, as can be seen on the OS map, with the 'Geograph' images, just where Barnsdale Road heads north - it's a Roman road
Further north, to the top of 'Mary Pannall', it's known as Roman Ridge

The old York Road/A59
(just) west of jct 47/A1
Flaxby
North Yorkshire

it's a dead-end, but it joined the The Great North Road to the east of the present A1, even though I used the dual-carriageway A1, I can't remember if it joined that?

(it was an 'site open, but no staying' day at the caravan site, so we'd gone up to check on the 'van)

St Peter’s Infants School (as was)
Lake Lock Road
Stanley
Wakefield

It’s an amalgamation of a community centre & Church nowadays
That said, l certainly remember it as a School, & kids used to be in that playground, l can’t recall the walls ever being higher, or having railings
