SW cornerpost of Cotton End bridge, Hamtun. Looks like the upside-down 7' 6" height marker carved into it shows a re-purposed stone from somewhere, possibly the demolished Hamtun Castle?

The stone could be reused but a height label on such seems unusual, and the scale and style of masonry seems in keeping with the rest of the bridge parapet. I wonder if it's been knocked down and reinstated with all the right parts but not necessarily in the right order?

The Victorians destroyed Hamtun Castle to make the railway station, apparently. There's very little to be seen now though a car park is being dug up to make summat castley I think..
