£329 new
My LGS has an ex demo that looks immaculate and plays nicely for £149.
Quieter than a detuned dreadnought but I like the noise & would be fun for noodling. Not got enough room and I would prefer a fretless if I get another bass (maybe Vintage's Jaco clone)

Has anyone owned or played a shorty bass? I'm about to buy a Bass for recording, I might get a shorty one for convenience i.e. slightly easier to play when you're used to a 6 string. And takes up less room. Is there any difference in tone generally? Btw it's going to be the cheapest one on Thomann so not anything fancy

I got 3 short scales, a Hofner Shorty, an HB Beatbass, and Mini D's short scale Precision.

I'm not a short scale fan but the Shorty is a brilliant travel bass and sounds good, and the Beat has those classic violin bass tones.

Big difference in tone and people tend to lose them or hate them. Aside from the niche models I have I'm a bit meh.

Spent an hour setting up the Mike Dirnt signature Precision properly. It had left the factory with zero tension on the truss rod!

Now set up to my taste, not too low as I'm a big one for hammer-ons and pull-offs. Feels and sounds much, much better.

Just seen that Brian Setzer has announced he can no longer play guitar after he has been diagnosed with an Auto Immune Disease, not saying which type, but sad news as Brian was one of the guitarists that made me want to learn to play guitar, despite being a Metal/rock fan, hope he can get treatment that helps alleviate his symptoms.

He does a lot of endorsement for Gretsch so they'll be a bit lost. Mind you, Gretsches pop up in the strangest places - Billy Duffy of The Cult was playing a White Falcon when it was grossly unfashionable.

That’s true, and he got some damn fine music out of it too, iirc Marco of Adam & The Ants played a White Falcon too, Malcolm Young played a G6131 Double Jet too

That guitarist bloke from The Beatles used to play a black Duo Jet rather a lot. David Gilmour also has one but he says it's harder to play than a Strat. Presumably he means the higher frets are hard to reach, which they are because of the neck joint. Otherwise, I'd take a Jet over a Strat any day.

Aye but a Telecaster is far better than either of those
