I'm tuner, comp, overdrive, preamp.

Tuner, then into a splitter box which sends one channel through an EQ and a boost pedal into the PA for my acoustic. The other channel goes into a permanently-on treble booster pedal, then into a slightly overdriven valve amp. Delay, chorus and reverb all go through the amp's effects loop. I used to use a boost pedal for solos but I've started using the guitar's volume knob for that. This setup is constantly evolving, but this does seem to work well.

My latest acquisition! The Epiphone SG was taken in part ex by my local music shop, where I work part time. I was offered it by the shop owner at a price I couldn't refuse.

Nice that SG, nice Angus vibe going on there, those Classic Vibe 50’s Tele’s are excellent value, I’ve just fitted new strings on mine, D’Addario NYXL 9-42’s, polished the frets, given it a good clean, polish & coat of carnauba wax, it’s gleaming now, just need to see how it plays on tonight’s practice

Yeah, the Classic Vibes are excellent guitars. I love Telecasters, but there's no getting away from the fact that even the best of them is a chopping board nailed to a stick, and paying a premium price for something so basic just goes against the grain somewhat. I've owned a couple of 1970s Fenders in the past and the CV Squiers are just as good in terms of sound and playability.
I like cheap guitars. My main Strat is a 1980s Indian-built Encore, made in the same factory Fender were using to build Sunn Mustangs under licence, and it's a genuinely excellent guitar (especially given that it cost me £40!). I've also picked up a Vintage 335 copy, which is also a really nice thing. I don't think I'd ever spend serious money on a "name" guitar again.

I've spent serious money on lots of name basses because I like them and I can afford it. I would say Geddy Lee is the nicest combination of characteristics, and at a grand was pretty good value.

I would agree with CVs being giant killers. I've a CV '54 Presision and the standard of finish and sound is better than a Fender Player Series that chimes in at best part of double the money.

An equally valid approach, of course!

Is that an Epiphone 60s SG, formerly known as the '61 model? If so, I have the same one, except I had Seymour Duncan Psyclone pickups fitted because I don't like the sound of PAF-style humbuckers.

I've just bought a Classic Vibe Strat for £129! Currently sporting a Tom Delonge-style single humbucker pickguard, but I have a nice loaded Strat pickguard more or less ready to drop in. I couldn't refuse at that price!

More wheels than sense
A friend has a Takamine acoustic bass, it's has a sweet mellow tone but much better for recording than playing live.

Straddle the line, discord and rhyme
If anyone fancies something a bit different, Relish guitars have gone bust so dealers are flogging off the old stock. They're the ones which opened from the back with the swappable pickups and stuff.

I expect there'll be zero customer support now but could be fun.
