Bill is like a steam train, he just keeps coming at you. You would have cooked me in a very short amount of time, I was about to hit the wall! My banana and Snickers were close to running out.

Another week, and I'll be reassuming my position about halfway down the pack!

And as for AWC, pffft, makes as much sense as Welsh to me!

Likewise.^_^

Well I was close to hitting the wall too, but we'll see what happens on the Dhuez. It'll be especially interesting if a few of us can ride it together. The corners are a bit off-putting though as they don't exactly flow in 3D. I'm assuming the 3D is very new as I haven't seen it before a couple of days ago.

I see that if you don't complete a stage you get the time of the slowest completed ride plus 5%, but that means that if only the fastest riders do it, the rest of us only get a 5% penalty, but if one poor sole slogs up they give everyone else their time +5%!

That is an interesting one isn't it. I think it works well as long as no ones actually using that as part of their strategy.

Lol! Be a pretty poor strategy! My new strategy is to leave at least two weeks between attempts, and order a new BKool resistance unit each time I participate in a league. And hope that the calibration is as kooky and in my favour as this replacement is proving to be!
Huez will put me back in my place! I can't physically eat the quantity of Snickers and bananas required to get me up that one.

Mountain goats still showing the old stages for me. Any ideas why?

The old one won't close until Tuesday evening around 10:30 pm. The new one can't start until the old one finishes. Bkool get their dates wrong by around 23 hours (well I guess 24 hours with the time zone difference between GMT and CET).

Keen to get climbing Alpe d'Huez? ;)

Cheers,

Geoff

Well......just challenged Bill up 3D Huez! Was ahead of him for about 20 minutes, whilst he quietly gained on me second by second, until he overtook me at about 21-22 minutes, whereupon I set about drafting him for the next 7 or 8 minutes! It was at this point I realised I had sweet F.A. left to give! So I made the tactical decision to burn out for the last 2 minutes and go for an FTP rating instead. Peeled out about 400watts for the remainder, and SHAZAAM....ACTIVE 8!
So I think you'll all agree, BKool, in an attempt to placate me further, have calibrated my Trainer, rather heavily in my favour!
And I'll take it, thankyou very much! I may only be fooling myself, but it is doing wonders for my self esteem, and my wife is taking my new puffed out chest, roll of carpet under each arm 'strut' very well! I think it's a win win!

Haha nice one Adam but I think you put in more effort than you think, well done on Active 8!

Strapped my Garmin Virb to the bonnet of my car and drove up Crowcombe Combe this morning, and I've just processed and uploaded the video, so hopefully will be available in the next few weeks.

Driving up at 5mph was interesting, seemed really slow in the car, especially when other cars came up behind! Not looking forward to trying that climb in reality, sustained stretches of 25%. I don't suppose the trainers will be able to replicate the gradient, but it will still be a good interval training climb for Goats ...

Uploaded another video of a ride we sometimes do, which was on the way back. Starts with steep (c. 15%) climb followed by a nice descent into the picturesque village of Kingston St Mary. Just under 20 minutes, so may be one for the league in the future?

Cheers,

Geoff

Active 8! Nice! I think you'll perhaps go some levels higher. I tried to make active 8 today on Alpe d'Huez but just couldn't quite get there. I'll get back to 9 at some point but still knackered from my race last weekend. I think we'll have some good races up these mountains so looking forward to that.

I think I could close the old one or delete it and the new one could start straight away.
