Crikey, Bkool have got both my video's posted up already. Must be a record, I only uploaded them yesterday evening.

No 3D I'm afraid, but the Crowcombe Combe video should be a good one for the Goats to do High Interval training on, it's much like Salcombe Hill but steeper!

Crowcombe Combe - 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs No 3, Taunton, Somerset UK

http://www.bkool.com/profile/detail/617652?durationType=DISTANCE&lapCount=1
  • Climb 203.4 m.
  • Average slope15.21%
  • Climbing distance 1.3 Km.
  • Maximum gradient 24.0%

Cothelstone and Buncombe - Quite a slog up, with a descent at the end as a reward.

http://www.bkool.com/profile/detail/617672?durationType=DISTANCE&lapCount=1
  • Climb 200.5 m.
  • Average slope5.83%
  • Climbing distance 3.4 Km.
  • Maximum gradient 17.36%

Give them a try and let me know what you think.

Now 3D has appeared on Crowcombe, they really have got their fingers out ....

So a nice little climb for next month's league, after the "warm up" in the Velodrome! :hyper:

Bill or Adam, do you fancy setting a baseline time? :becool:

Well this is a new one for me and I'm wondering if anyone else is the same.
Did a ride earlier and went into the map to export it to Stava and the panel on the right hand side does not have the option any more, so I checked previous rides and none of then have the option now!

Without you Geoff, this forum may as well be Farmville! Might have a stab at those hills tomorrow! Wanted to do some stamina stuff tonight!

Thanks!

I'm looking to train tonight, anyone looking for company? Don't mind when, so long as it's not too late for me to have some dinner afterwards.

They've done the 3D on both my video's now, so I was thinking of giving the longer one a go, then hopefully warmed up have a try at the stupidly steep one and see how the Bkool copes with 24%.

Or something else would be fine ... :hugs:

I must admit, whilst reclined in my settee, basking in the glow of my counterfeit success up Huez, I did kind of arrive at a similar conclusion, although mine was reached with probably less science and more ball scratching! I couldn't see how it would be possible to isolate the applied resistance between machines.
My cycling in the real world has increased exponentially since acquiring the BKool Widowmaker, and hills that once seemed insurmountable are now molehills in comparison.
In each event online, I push myself to ludicrous extremes, going deep into my pain threshold, and far beyond any level of exertion I would apply in the real world, for if I am nothing at all, I am a doggedly determined individual. But the gains I have made in such a short amount of time, whilst in some small way, may be partially down to my new additional running training, and possibly a rest to allow my muscles to fully recover and grow from the pounding I was inflicting on them, cannot possibly be attributed completely to my performance.
Maybe one day, I'll have to swing by yours Geoff, and hook up to your Powertap, and see what's going on? In the meantime, I will keep checking to see if
I am developing other super human abilities, such as unassisted flight or a tendency to turn green and rip my shirt when my children test my patience.
I also apologise to Geoff (whilst turning away, poking tongue in cheek and smirking involuntarily) for potentially nudging ahead of him in the ongoing quest for Goat Supremacy.
Bill, however, will never get such an apology, as it would seem, that even by me cheating, Bill just applies a bit more effort, possibly stops focusing on Loose Women on the TV in front of him, and concentrates on the cycling task beneath, to once again completely destroy my efforts, and cruise on by. Sadly, I may never recognise Bill's face, but I will forever have ingrained on my mind the 3D generated image of Bill's arse in Lycra, disappearing over the horizon.

Well maybe your previous bkool was just a bit on the tight side and this one is closer to the real you. That's perhaps a better way of looking at it:smile:
Bkool widow maker!!!! LOL. Sometimes I think it might even be more dangerous than out on the road. I have to reassure my Mrs that my heart can take it, which I have to assume that it can considering what I've put it through over the years. As you say, Bkool gains can be amazing and I'm hoping to find out for sure out on the road this spring when I compare my old pre-bkool times with the garmin round my local park ride. If the XC race I did recently was anything to go by I won't be disappointed.
You should have kept going at my ghost yesterday on Alpe d'Huez because just after the half hour mark (as I was also chasing Active 8 which I realised I was missing by 1 watt at that point) but I just couldn't go on any longer at that pace and drastically reduced the power just to make it to the end. If you look at my power graph you can see I tailed it right off after the first 30 mins.
Still, I'm hoping I can give you a good race soon as I'm 2kg lighter at 76kg now and I'll hopefully be back to full fitness soon. It's going to be fun!!

And..... I think that's a terrible thing you said about Calamity Spurrer and Risa Hills :P
Unfortunately Bkool don't seem very good at simulating the finer points of the 3D feminine figure. Now that would give us all something worth speeding up for

Quick question - im currently using an ipad in the week as work away from my man cave, will it prompt a firmware update? anyone see that at all? and will it do it automatically through Ant+ or does it need plugging in? (i believe the white one did)

It should prompt automatically, when a new firmware level is available. It's done wirelessly, but the ANT+ adapter needs to be almost touching the trainer.
