Out the door earlier with fewer obstacles this morning; although still had to wait for the car to defrost, sit in traffic of no descernible origin and walk the bike past the 300yds of the tow path that remain carpeted with thorns despite my protestations to the relevant authorities..

An absolutely beautiful morning - clear and bright with a good dose of low-lying mist. Could have spent all morning taking photos but reined myself in as time was tight. Lots of school traffic on the tow path - a pain in practical terms but of course it's great to see people taking this route rather than jamming the roads up with their vile Chelsea tractors en-route to parking them on somebody else's kids face outside the school..

The morning was only spoilt by the fact I forgot the reduced all day breakfast sarnie I'd bought for the homeless bloke under the bridge - I hope he doesn't take offense at it being two days out of date tomorrow...

Again, sausages but shorter route, arriving at work just on time

Very nice of you to take care of the less fortunate among us. I carry clifbars and fig bars for any homeless I find along my rides - often enough ending up with none for me - but unlike these poor chaps, I have food available when I get home.

I took the electric bike to work today as I'd a few work visits planned today around the city - just home and 40 miles all in, cycled with varying levels of assistance. The advantage that I arrived at all 3 of my meetings with no sweat. Didn't even bother changing out of my chino's before riding 13 miles home. It's a different kinda slower paced riding though

Nice work

I don't see that many homeless folk en-route, although sadly there are plenty around and I do occasionally buy them food if I'm out and about.

I feel especially sorry for this bloke - partially because I'm probably providing his alarm clock as I pass; sounding my bell in warning to anyone approaching from the other side of the bridge. It must be especially galling being homeless in somewhere as affluent as Oxford; his very public bed being a stone's throw from multi-million pound houses.

On top of that I'm acutely aware of how I'd likely be in a similar situation - or worse - were my circumstances different / if I didn't have the privilege of the the support around me.

He comes and goes but when I know he's about I try to remember him on the daily reductions-raid to the Co-Op.. hopefully I'll remember the bloody sandwich tomorrow!

On today's return home, heading along the bus / taxi / cycle lane of the road. A bus had stopped in front of me at a fare stage, so I checked behind and there was a car a good four car lengths behind me on the main lane. I pulled out just enough to pass the bus and carried on.
Said car then honked at me several times, so when I caught up with it at a roundabout, the driver stated that I should have stopped behind the bus and waited for it to move off - !
Yeah, jog on - ! ^_^

Simon, a couple of things here; one is that the driver felt safe enough cocooned inside his metal fortress to give you what he/she felt was a much needed lesson on how to safely ride a bike, and second, that his/her sense of superiority towards someone (you) who obviously couldn't afford a big box to drive around in was adequately demonstrated to his/her satisfaction. You should feel proud you were so enabling today towards one of the less fit members of society.
By the way, I see you are in Norwich. I grew up in 32 Victoria Street.

Bitter cold today. Considered regretting wearing shorts but manned up instead!

Out the door earlier today, cold and bright but less fog.

Took it steady as I'm typically rinsed and was in good time (at least to start) so just tried to enjoy the journey.

Not much to report; stopped for a dangle and remembered the homeless bloke's sarnie today - which joined other potential donations of some probiotic yoghurt and a banana - hopefully providing some balance

A slow ride in, arriving just in time

So my ride home was the stark opposite to this morning. Just as I was riding into Cerne Abbas I came across a cyclist pushing his bike in the middle of the lane facing traffic, I did what any of us would do and stopped to see if was ok pucture, mechanical etc. Got the response "I fine thanks just a bit pissed" 😂😂. No worries squire I will doff my helmet to you and wish you good afternoon.

Wish I had the time for a Wednesday afternoon session down the pub.

I took my road bike this morning as the afternoon was meant to be glorious. Absolutely freezing this morning, but a glorious commute home in shorts for the first time this year. I love my road bike- it's so quick and nimble
