I can't imagine how utterly horrible that must be... worst mine got was 90 mins for 20-odd miles and that made me want to kill myself and everyone around me

It's a bit shoot.

Ride, off road, with old MTB is 45 mins door to door, no delays....

People do it, my wife did it as well. That's why I cycle to work as it keeps me sane. The work reaction is the usual stuff about cycling.....(we are an active commuter employer... erm... )

Only made a bit easier than the gods aligned (as they do) and I was planning a change of personal vehicle after 22 years - big saloon to a van. Van is an auto, so my knackered leg isn't needed. Bonus

Frosty ride today, colder than expected, but without wind not too bad. pretty. Surprisingly high number of other cyclists about, yesterday didn't see many at all.

Yeah, right. I understand that it's ingrained into the national mindset to endure this misery on a daily basis in the pursuit of consumptive trinkets... but it near-destroyed me.

Sadly I think a lot of people just buy into the herd mindset and choose to reject or deride anything that challenges the narrative they've unquestionably accepted.

I genuinely think my commute has given me some sort of budget PTSD as any degree of traffic now still provokes a significant negative reaction.

Fingers' crossed for a swift recovery and return to two wheels

January the month that never stops giving, woke looking forward to first ride into work in over a week, you guessed it p*ss*ng it down. Hopefully get out the weekend sick of being stuck in a car.

On the big boys bike today as i'm cycling the 27 miles home this afternoon. I managed to dodge the rain getting to the station. Fingers crossed I can do the same at the other end. At least the rain buggers off later today so should be a dry ride home.

Managed to get abuse from a blue van man today for stopping at the red light at the top of London Road by the Posh ground in Pottyboro and not jumping over the three feet wall into the substandard narrow slippy shared cycleway in dark horrible rain. 7am on a Friday with a complete empty lane for him to use (it's dual carriageway), FFS!
Now for the boring bit:

what route you taking Ian normally go down back of a2 on cyclepath if I am riding to Rochester / Isle of Sheppy.

Yep, basically the A207 Watling Steet from Greenwich via Plumstead, Dartford and on to Bluewater which is about 14 miles, and not too nice to be honest, then on to the cyclepath to Rochester.

I didn't manage to dodge the rain but thankfully it was only light rain.
So, rainy commute #3 for the year
Same period last year 4 Rainy commutes.

yeah have used cycle path down near A2 , also cant stand road surface of main road going from Gravesend to rochester traffic always hogs the road and leaves you with no space plus surface is awful tried it last summer not any better than it used to be despite piss poor attempt re-surface it.
