I didn't commute to work today because I was off, but I cycled to my friend's for my birthday dinner :birthday:
On my way back home, just about an hour ago, a motorbike passed me, his rear luggage box came off the rack bouncing into the road!
Just as well I am slow, I was quite a bit behind or it would have hit me.
It was quite windy, but I had two panniers full of potatoes, onions, various food stuff to weight me down
Going to my friend's, I had this is my pannier: arrived intact!

Awoke an hour early, out the door actually on time for once into the warm, overcast outside.

The car stage was nice and sedate with minimal bellends and I took it steady on the bike; being especially pleased that I appeared to have missed the school traffic. Took the tow paths all the way again; stopping for a few photos and sausages in town, arriving at work in very good time.

I find steady rides especially pleasant as they allow one to fully take in their surroundings, and witness the subtle artifacts and hieroglyphs of the civilisations-past responsible for the creation of the great waterways en-route..

1st commute of the year, windy but dry so I'll take that. Didn't see a single soul on a bike this morning but plenty on the way back. Good work done along the pennine trail with paths cleared and branches cut back from Rotherham to Barnsley.

Cycling home today a car overtakes me and the passenger shouts c**t to me. I had no earlier beef with that car. Thought they'd just do it for a laugh and speed off, they're on a 50 road btw....but traffic at standstill further up. I catch up with them and it's amazing how timid they are when you do that. I tapped ont window and gesture and say wind your window down. Tap a bit harder, still blanking me the wnkstains. I was so tempted to hoik one up and gob ont bonnet of his shtmobile but thought better of it in case they used it as a weapon further up the road. 😆

Must be the same artist that drew a chalk penis on the back of Alan Partridge's coat at school...it too had 'hairs at the base and a dotted line emanating from the crown'.

Seems every artist has their own distinct style - every rendition is as individual as a written signature or fingerprint

Nearly got taken out by inattentive peanut who drove straight on to a mini roundabout without even slowing, despite me being already on there and lit up like a squid boat.

Back on the commute after being off the bike for a week with the 'lurgy'. Eyes still a bit gungy, but otherwise, commute time, as expected despite the headwind.

Forecast was accurate - checked last night and this morning, predicting rain showers from 7am. Up and out, dry. Within 5 minutes hit a shower for 5-10 minutes (didn't put waterproofs on) then managed most of the way before the rain set in. It's now wet out there.

Keeping a close eye on the forecast as I'm on a two day 'away day' for Thursday and Friday. It's at a hotel out in Cheshire, only a slightly further commute than I currently do (13 miles direct via roads, or 17 miles with 10 miles off road). Looking like we may get snow on Thursday morning, so if it's bad I'll take the longer route to avoid the cars. That said, if it is snowing, I bet at least half of the folk won't get there. I've already checked out bike parking - there isn't any (but there is a Tesla charger) but the bike can come in the function room over night. I'll lock it to some railings during the day !

A similar ride to yesterday; albeit more overcast and less rose-tinted. A soundtrack of Massive Attack's first two albums making the whole thing more pleasant. Managed a pretty good almost-track-stand while waiting to turn off; which the Brompton seems pretty good at for some reason.

A shot with St. Barnabus' church out the back of Jericho, then lurking outside the sausagemongers in the covered market. Also one from yesterday's return from a client

Not looking forward to the return leg as it's seemingly wall-to-wall rain from about 4pm onwards
