Cleaned my bike at the weekend- took off the lights, two rear and the rechargeable front. Put them on a garden table while I was working. Assumed I'd put them back on. This morning no lights attached! Checked the garden, obvious places. I have a third extra rear light on the mudguard and Dynamo front so I could still ride but it's annoying (one of those rears was my camera, the other my 'fog light', and the front was an MTB style rechargeable with a separate battery pack).

Sometimes if I leave shoes outside a fox runs off with them. Do foxes run off with bike lights too?

Wasn't the fox. Ms P found them, they were on a table in our flat.

Ah Monday morning. Dark and wet again. Fortunately not chucking it down (as per forecast) and merely a bit damp. One salmon on the oxford road cycle paths (got shouted at - these are dangerous enough as is), plus a few peds, cars turning across and then slower moving cyclists to navigate around. Usual run in really.

On my way home today, there is a bridge which has the 'order' that cyclists must dismount due to the nature of the surface of the bridge.
Now, the surface of said bridge is hardwood strips, which as far as I'm aware is what all / most velodromes are / were made of and I appreciate that when the wood is wet, it can be slippery, but - ?
However, as I was approaching the bridge, a manny ahead of me dutifully dismounted and walked across the bridge: as it was dry, I cycled. ^_^
However, when said manny got to the main road, he then proceeded to cycle along the pedestrian only footpath instead of using the road.
Whatever - ! ^_^

Mild, dry and overcast today meaning fleece and light gloves on the way in. Tired due to ongoing lack of decent kip but left just about in time and still had room for sausages before arriving at work right on time.

Coming home the sky initially looked like snow(!) however when I actually left there was a tangible amount of extra light left in the post-sunset sky and the unmistakable scent of spring in the air. Had a lovely chilled waft into town at a surprisingly rapid rate thanks to the suspected tailwind. Zigzagged through town looking for some broccoli for dinner; eventually found some at M&S in Summertown.. then it was over to Wolvercote to join the tow path and back to the car.

The first return journey this year I've been happy to just be out; really pleasant and a proper boost for morale

The benefits of flexible working. Able to work from home today, still rough and don't want to make my eye worse with getting grit and dirt in it on the cycle commute. Missing two days riding is messing my monthly mileage up though. Hopefully back tomorrow.

I came off in a greasy underpass 5 minutes from home on my way to work today. My bike is okay, I'm rather sore. Quick call to my wife and my boss and now I'm working from home for the day. I had to re-arrange a site visit, which is a shame. Luckily it's a venue I know well, so even if another visit doesn't happen, there won't be any surprises.

Sorry to hear that @rivers , hope not too bashed up, both you and the bike.

Not much to report on my commute today apart from getting vexed at a really annoying illegal e-biker not either not knowing or more likely disregarding any rules of the road. Cut me up at least twice. He got shouted a rude word.

The traffic in SE London seemed to be backed up everywhere, what seemed like most of my commute. Made for frustrating and slow riding. Thank gawd for the extensive bus lanes once I hit the A21.

Out the door on time but feeling semi-detached thanks to binging last night on loads of stuff I shouldn't have..

A mostly chilled drive, excepting the two bellends who saw fit to pull out infront of me. Once parked and out on the bike it was definitely colder than yesterday and still overcast, but the first time this year I've not felt the need for lights. Made good time on the canal tow path thanks to a Pantera soundtrack, briefly hitting 22mph on one deserted section just because I could.

Into town for sausages then chanced the tow path up the river. Thankfully there with no punctures today; the route seeming suspiciously clean and tidy - perhaps because the area had been intentionally cleared to remove post-flood detritus.

There were barely any pointy bits of tree to be seen on the path - certainly far fewer than I recall from the last time on this route and a lot less than are currently littering the new cycle path at Yarnton..

It did appear that one of the pontoons at the boat houses had made a bid for freedom - perhaps enabled by the flooding.

After stopping for a few pics the pace slowed significantly as the soundtrack switched to Nils Frahm and I felt very content and privileged to have this route as part of my ride in... the journey once again offering so much more than just a less-suicide-provoking alternative to using the car all the way

On-going debate with Elf and Safety at work. We've had the emails round about no charging e-bikes in the buildings, and no using electric scooters as they aren't road legal.

I mentioned the 'e-bike' that's always in the bike parking - it's that big and heavy it can't be locked into the bike storage. H&S have spoken to the owner who doesn't charge it in the buildings - that's fine but do they know this is an electric motorbike, and isn't road legal unless he has road tax and insurance. They've changed their approach now I've explained that this bike can't be pedalled more than 100 years due to it's design, and I've seen it moving without being pedalled.

Many people really don't know the difference. Massive risk on campus if this bike hit's someone, especially if it's staff riding it.

You know that you've been commuting for too long when you can diagnose a problem by the type of rattling noise it makes. As soon as I became aware of it this morning I knew no urgent action was required and, sure enough arriving at work, a quick check confirmed that one of the rear mudguard release clips on the SKS Racebalde Longs had failed.
