I've cycled home in much heavier rain before, but not sure I've ever seen more surface water in 25 years of commuting. About four or five floods up to my pedals on the way home and just constant running water across the roads.

Seriously soggy out there, best wishes to anyone in danger of flooding.

Loop line flooded near Little Hulton so I had to come off and ride through the Bronx 👀
Still raining on my way home but it makes for interesting photos

Luckily I live at the top of a hill but it's pretty dire in the Trent valley

That was exactly my experience, there where 4 places I had to divert around a flooded section of road as I could not safely negotiate them knowing the rubbish surface of the roads.

Days like this make me want a bike with disk brakes as whilst I find the cantis on my Super Galaxy perfectly adequate even on a wet day, any puddles which cause the rim to be submerged makes for an interesting next stop. I've bee. Looking at cheap aluminium disc braked bikes this evening 🙄

Dual pivot rim brakes on mine, work perfectly in the wet. Issue is rim wear, last about 3 winters.

Very wet on way back. Some huge puddles. Deep flood at a major junction on A6 by McVities in Levenshulme. I suspect the flooded tunnel on the Floop will be much worse tomorrow. Only ever seen it flood once during heavy summer showers, and it took weeks to dry.

No!

Left in the car in the dark; the dawn being about as late as it's going to get and wet weather gear on from the start following the forecast.

It was pretty much light by the time I'd parked but put the lights on anyway. Constant moderate rain and a gentle headwind throughout; took the tow path with one of the few perks of the weather being the lack of much other traffic. The canal was very high; hadn't even considered the prospect of flooding but it was largely alright.

Behind Jericho the distraction of some swans wading in the slightly flooded bank caused me to plough into a 10-15m long stretch of maybe 3-4" deep flooding; the resultant bow wave soaking my shoes although thankfully they're largely waterproof and the overtrousers stopped me getting totally saturated.

Leaving the office the bibical winds had thankfully abated slightly; fine rain that gradually got worse but I couldn't be bothered to stop and put on the waterproof. Large amounts of tree debris littering the canal and cycle path but got back in one piece without any punctures.

If nothing else it's made me very much appreciate a shower and early bedtime; I think it's due to be less grotty tomorrow - thank fap.

It was bad at McVities wasn't it, some truely aweful driving too. Luckily when I passed I could avoid the worst of it by using the pavement.

Central Avenue in Levenshulme was impassable too.
No!

.....
For clarity not cheap aluminium bikes with disk brakes, rather second hand aluminium bike with disk brakes that are selling cheap. Funnily one I have my eye on I Googled the model to find a thread on here with myself wishing a forum user was closer as they where selling one, this was almost a year ago after a similar ride i think.

I just followed a car through it TBH - no issues with the brakes. It was the final climb home which was a mud bath, and deep enough to cover the rims - aka grinding paste.

Two floods this morning - North Reddish Park, and on the Floop - now that was deep (just to the East of the A6 under a bridge). It was one of those that you hit with your feet up, and hope momentum carries you through. Just lucky I had full waterproofs on as the bow wave was massive, and soaked my gloves through ! :okay: I won't be going home through it as I take a diversion onto the A6. If I don't have waterproofs tomorrow (i.e. it decides not to rain) I'll use a little diversion to get passed it - certainly not worth hitting it without waterproofs as it was BB height !
