It is fictional, with different timelines involved. But some parts of the story arc have been based on real events.
They always are, it seems.

Camping trip ended up being cut short. MrsF popped up the hill for the loo before bed, but on the way back didn't see a pothole with the heavy sea mist and her foot went over. Very swollen this morning and she couldn't bear weight. Left site about 3pm. Home for 6 and A&E for 6:30pm. All sorted by 8pm (shock horror). Xrays, no breaks but told to come back if no improvement in a week. Vastly better experience than when I was in 3 months ago with a fractured pelvis.
Bonus though, I am home to watch Paris Roubaix on Sunday.
I do, however, have a van to empty of camping gear on my own.
Owwwwww! Sending healing vibes for Casa Fossyant via trebuchet.

I've given her my crutches.
Bringing in real historical events - such as war, or names - such as political figures long dead, is de rigueur for a writer of prose, but using actual living names or those dead who are not in the public domain, might lead to legal issues - which a potential publisher would ferret out and excise. Care is always a necessity when expressing opinions or views in print.
