My mobile is now possible the cleanest it's been since it came out of the box and first connected to any network.
It's been in the washer, along with the clothes.

Reynard, you has said earlier you were writing a 'novel' which is fiction, but are you actually writing an expose?
If that includes basing a character around some dirty washing that's been left to moulder in the cupboard since the late 1980s and desperately needs airing, then yes. The *actual* driver in question denies it (to admit it would totally screw his reputation), but I have the same story and background info from multiple (and very reliable) sources. And I'm also taking the opportunity to use an ex of mine (another well-known driver) as the basis for another character. Put it this way, motor racing is full of very interesting and yet very unpleasant people.
You know what they say. Do not annoy a writer, for she will put you in a book and kill you.
Both characters will get their come-uppance, but in very different ways. And no, I don't kill them, as that would be far too unsatisfying.
I have conducted a number of requiems for phones, most because they got wet riding in the rain.
So, not a 'novel' in the sense of a fictional story but a 'spill the dirt' book?
