I think it's that. The Ferrari has at least been a little competitive - if he's moving it's because he thinks he can drive it better and win.Strange decision, as Merc have a total new car. unless he already knows the new car still isn’t very good.
Even more interesting will be seeing where Sainz ends up.

That also makes sense. He has a crack this year if the 2024 car has improved, then a year driving for Ferrari before he potentially hangs up his boots.That and a reported £100m pa contract. He's the sport's biggest brand (and one of the World's biggest, of course) now to be employed by the sport's biggest brand with a market cap of £66bn. Plus he's always said he would before he retired.
