Sad to see him move to "the dark side" but good luck to him

people like him have a limited time to make money and have to look at their future

and driving for Ferrari is certainly a thing all young driver dream of
winning for them would be nice too!

He knows he isn't going to get another title, particularly if the '24 Merdedes is a bit sheet, and it's not like Red Bull will have conveniently stood still over winter, especially as RB were thenfirst to cease development of their '23 car to cocentrate on '24. Unless the new Merc is sensational he knows he has little chance - a simply good car won't be enough.

He'll have his eye on the pay cheque, with the added kudos for an f1 driver as having driven for the reds. Let's just hope LeClerc doesn't start whining like Hamilton.

There's always a chance. RB managed it in 2021 given the dominance of Merc and that era's regs

Surely he doesn’t care about the money anymore.
It’s all about the prancing horse.

Probably
maybe he has a better idea of future developments at the different teams than outsiders have access to

Ferrari do seem to be quite good at getting round rules - historically

like the clouds of smoke out of the garage a while ago

as usual next year will probably kick up a few surprises

But where does this leave Merdedes?

The decent quality rivals have all signed long contracts in recent weeks, possibly spurred on by rumours of a Hamilton departure and MB then waving a chequebook around to fill the seat.

Sainz is the obvious choice, scoring as he did Fezza's only win last year, and Albon might make an enticing future prospect, but the reality is Wuthell will be leading the team the next couple of years.

And now Hamilton will find himself shuttered away from many parts of the business to reduce the info he can take to Fezza, which might hinder in season development of their car. Alternatively, it might improve matters as Wuthell is supposedly better at technical feedback and willing to do more sim setup time. We shall see.

Word is this avo the new MB car is OK, but not top flight, so that is likely the straw that broke the donkeys back.

In 2025 Leclerc will destroy him for pace.. Merc will shun him from new developments for the last 6 months of his contract this coming season and Hamilton will constantly be questioning the daft Ferrari strategy during races while driving for them in 2025 . PR for the Prancing Horse brand will be great having Hamilton on board though . Russell is probably grinning from ear to ear as I type . Sainz will be like an explosive pampas bull , fully charged now to outperform Leclerc and will probably overdrive the car and repeat his DNF pattern this season also . Max will be quietly smirking to himself and enjoying the sideshow

Just saw that Ferraris stock price value has increased by 7 BILLION . Its all business folks remember , all concerned will make a lot of money over this , the racing is just the sideshow now and has been for a very long time in reality . Denny Hulme sat on the edge of the footpath eating a packet of crisps and chatting to an oil stained mechanic very late on the evening he won the Monaco GP in 1967 . Nobody bothered him

I suppose Lewis is just being pragmatic. He told Mercedes that their car was rubbish but they persisted with it . Last year they had a struggle with Ferrari over finishing 2nd in the championship. If it wasn't for his results Ferrari would have easily finished 2nd .
I don't believe Russel has it to become champion. He may be able to set a fast time in qualifying but in the race he seems to brake too early allowing other drivers to out brake him and nip through.

I'm hoping Leclerc gets the better of Hamilton but I'd be happy if the both drive well and clean.

I think he really needs his head examined.

OTOH, if he's looking after the contents of his wallet, he won't care how much Team Fawlty Towers embarrasses him. Oh, and don't you dare criticize the car, or you'll be out on your ear before the end of the season whether you've got a contract or not. As Alain Prost discovered back in 1991...
