A delta of -40% should make it relatively safe without needing to alter the race outcome by bunching the pack up and allowing some drivers an advantage.

There are times where a full SC isn't needed.

It's probably an irrational process, but I just don't like VSC, even at -40% all the cars are strung out around the circuit, under a SC they are all together which then means if work has to pause/stop whilst they pass, the marshalls then get a good bit of time before they come around again.

The safety car was a joke, the broken car was not a hazard to anyone. Gets to be a bigger joke every week, Not sure how much longer i can watch this circus.

The rear of Strolls car was triggering an 'on track' sensor so the FIA followed protocol.

I was about to reply that I didn't think that was the case & that the transponder is fitted between the front axle, but apparently there is a secondary backup one fitted underneath the rear rain light which I wasn't aware of. I thought the reason was the radio transmission was clear to stop on the track & somebody had got a bit overzealous, as I said it upstream it was very mature of Stroll to make every attempt to get the car clear of the track.

I have an F1 subscription so hear all the pit radios and stuff and caught the tail end of the teams radio message and they were desperate for Stroll to stop 'immediately' do to a serious electrical fault and the wording was such that they were half expecting it to catch fire. If the Marshalls and race director were listening to the same - and I'm sure they were - then they would have been anticipating a potential full on fire response, fire engine, trumpton, the lot, so in light of that I have little issue the the safety car call. 15 or 20 seconds later it was clear that Stroll had shut the car down successfully but by then the call had been made.

This is why I prefer GT & sportscar racing. You can keep your Formula E motor whine and the muted V6 turbos of F1, just turn the sound up on the Ford Mustang GT3 for 2024

At Le Mans a few years ago, even amongst the noise of the various LMPs and GT cars, you always knew when a Corvette went past!

I've driven round that course, although driving a Citroen BX and being stuck behind a dust cart for much of the way did tarnish the magic somewhat.

Fantastic car, driving them anyway could not tarnish the magic, especially the GTi version.

It was in fact a GTi, but hampered by a slush box that appeared to be haunted, but thats pretty much all the hire place had unless I wanted a city car. It was a good looking motor for sure.
