Stubborn git
McLaren are the new Williams - it turns out it wasn't Ricciardo's fault.

A meme I saw last week showing McLarens testing times and Riccardo grinning with the caption of "being paid £18 million not to race the worst car on the grid" had me chuckling

Too many cars looking confusingly similar.

I have say when the 2 Aston Martins & the 2 Mercedes were in the same shot from a distance I couldn't work out which was which.

Stroll junior has gone up in my estimation, not that he could have got much lower, I figured he was just a little rich boy who thought he knew how to drive, he had pulled off a few nice moves in the past but had also pulled off a huge more silly moves & mistakes.

But his pass on Russell was top notch, he sized him up, sold him the dummy & then committed fully to do a masterful overtake. Even his collision with Alonso wasn't really his fault, he was committed & could not have expected Alonso to cut back so tightly, but how different the race would have been If had hit him harder.

The Astons were green?

Agreed, he went up in my estimation too.

Maybe it was just the lighting, think it might have been near the start all 4 were in the same long distance shot & it was (to me) impossible to work out which was which.

If in doubt, it's reasonable to assume that the Mercs would be the ones behind the Aston's. :okay:

Ah - yes - I agree that at the start from the panoramic it was a little tricky to pick out who was who. The overhead was clearer.

And all that with recently broken wrists and surgery. Very impressive drive.

Has the cost cap imposed by the FIA given Red Bull a huge advantage for this year's GPs? Red Bull were found to have broken the previous year's cost cap and payed a token fine. That seems to have given them an advantage last year which seems to have carried on into this year. Other teams are now having to spend a lot of time and money trying to catch up . This happens every year but it seems as though Red Bull are way ahead of everyone else who could be held back by the budget constraints.

Hopefully, this will be kicked into touch by the middle to end of the season which is when they might be feeling the impact of the penalties.
