Was it? Which bit?
Well mostly Q1 and Q2 before Red Bull turned the engines up. Mercedes seemed to fade out in Q3 as did Aston. Could be an interesting race though.

Well that was a race...
What we have learned:
  • Red Bull are so far ahead of all other teams that it almost looks fishy. They didn't even look like they were trying.
  • Mercedes are stuffed. It was particularly telling that Toto conceded that Aston have over 50% of a Mercedes and have made it work better.
  • Ferrari continue to be as reliable as last year
  • Aston Martin and Fernando are kicking some serious derriere
Might as well give the cups to Red Bull now. This season is going to be about the battle for second between Mercedes, Ferrari and Aston by the look of it.

It was for one team but not for another . You could say it was humiliating!

Yes, RBR romped away with it - no big surprise. For me the race was about Aston Martin - Alonso's race craft and ultimate position but also the much-maligned Stroll, racing with a broken wrist and toe, and no testing, to a great result (although it does beg the question, why was he MTBing just before pre-season testing...?).

Mercedes probably did as well as expected, although seem to have thrown in the towel on the season already. I wonder if there might be a mid-season change to their car, to a more 'conventional' design (maybe a clone of the Aston Martin, since it is half the same anyway??)?

McLaren are the new Williams - it turns out it wasn't Ricciardo's fault.
Ferrari.... oh dear, Ferrari - no signs of renaissance yet.

Stroll was a very lucky boy; you don't generally get to ram your team-mate on the first lap and still come-up smelling of roses! :P
