I didn't think it possible, but today I managed to find a bike heavier than the famous Boris @Pat "5mph"

I'm on field assignment across the pond in Nashville, and had the day off to explore. Top marks for accessibility of the city bikes - 5$ gives unlimited use over 24 hours as long as each trip is less than 1 hour - but the things are built like bloody tanks! Luckily Nashville is equipped with a pancake flat bike path along a river to take a pootle on.

Go Preds!

I might very well be up for the night ride, depending upon whether I've died in either the Cairngorms or the Pyrenees.
The CC Angleterre (or, judging by that poll that's been going around since the election, CC Sud Nouvelle Ecosse) night ride from Carlisle to Newcastle last year was very special and this morning's hoof into work did not present any knee pain. :hyper:

And, dumb question I know, but how good do you need your lights to be?
I had three sets of front lights for the Carlisle ride, used two of them (One of those chunky Cateye ones, and the stock Triban light), kept my main Lezyne commuting one (which has about 1hr life) as a backup of last resort and went through a lot of AAs.
Everyone had far better and more powerful setups than I, but I was able to see for the most part (except when the Cateye started running low)

You will be riding in a group, so eye-searing flashing rear lights are a No-No !

Front lights need to be good enough to 'see by' at speeds of about 20-30kph and having a 'be seen' light for the earlier part is handy, to save battery life on the bigger one.

Lights are really only needed from (getting to and) the start at 2300 until about 0400, so 12hr/all night power is not necessary. Spare batteries though, probably are needed ! It was 'interesting' how many riders last year had no spare batteries with them … :headshake:

Evening weather forecasts for this week have improved. Saturday's looking a nice day for my last big pre 3 pistes ride. Will need to devise a stupid elevation route and write my will beforehand.
